Got my Engineer at work to do a little bit of Strengthening (just now) to the Already Custom Rear Transmission Mount for the O2M

This existing mount came with the Engine & Box I purchased for the Project

Yeah the Fellow who works for me is in the top 10% of welders in New Zealand he is pretty slick

I pulled off another Engine Mounting bracket today (this time the factory VW Cast Iron one)

It appears to have some Stress fractures forming... So we spent about 15 minutes at lunch time drawing up a stronger more compact (but heavier) design for a replacement Mounting Bracket in Mild Steel

this Time I will attempt some of the Stick & Mig welding myself (just for educational purposes)

the only welding I can currently & confidently do is fusion welding with a TIG...

This is the Next Sucker to get a Reboot.

Can't wait till the morning to hoe back in to the MK2 she has looked pretty neglected the last 2 weeks sitting on Wood Pallets waiting for her Subframes to come back from the Powdercoaters...

Friday Night also finished rebuilding the hubs and New Tie Rods and Rack Ends

Bit of a curious day today...

After a crap load of running around for work related crap... Fizzy and I finally hoe-d back in to the old Slug!

With all intentions, of cleaning the bottom side, then re-applying Stonechip protection/underseal etc

                        Re rolled her over

Oh dear after some prepsol and scrubbing... we decided to take this fight outside and fight harder with degreaser, scrubbing brushes and a Diesel waterblaster...

Well for once in the day we actually started winning however not winning enough to get to the point of re applying stone chip protection.

Cheers to fizzy for being so anal retentive with the waterblaster!

While he was unleashing hell on "The Terrible Two's" under-carriage I went and cleaned and resprayed my steering rack just because it is out of the car..

So looks like next weekend It will be Under-sealant time and fingers crossed the Frames come back from the the powder coaters so I can get the shell rolling again..

Must say it was bloody nice to roll the body on to its side. i think I will do that a few more times in the immediate future to assist in fitting hardware to the bottom of the shell

Amazing what you can do with a couple of Old Mattresses and some Expanded polystyrene

Hot and Fresh outta the kitchen

Also finally found the Sway bar for the MK2 to go on to the MK3 Subframe..

Turns out its a 23mm Cox Sport Front Sway Bar!

She got dropped off to the Powder coater to get a freshen' up also

I need to find some new Sway bar bushes that will fit this. and some new/better Sway bar drop links..

Anyone know of any good ones to suit a MK3 GTI Subframe?
