purchased in 1984, Still have it as its repairable. If you need straight tin I have several cars I can source metal from ok.

Also talking with Oscar in LA as he is cutting a Mk1 up later this year ( November)
    Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

    Cheers,

    • Just saw the pic on facebook. How devastating!

My mates MK1 Scirocco suffered a similar fate getting rear ended through no fault of his own. Mines ready for registration now and im scared to wheel it out of the workshop!

            • That’s nasty! The only good thing is that you haven’t painted it yet, and now you might get to do it!

                • I love this car and it would be a tragedy if it gets written off!
My grandfather had a red one, and some day I will get one too!

                  • If your still in possesion of the car check the floor around the base of the B pillar, looking at the door you may have sustained some damage there. Hopefully any body damage is only the outer sill ( easy to fix) and the door. Cant remember how much damage to the floor will deem it a write off.

                    • Bad luck mate. I really hope it's not written off. Love your work so far on the rocco, hopefully it'll work to your advantage with the respray. Got my fingers crossed for you

                      • more detailed photos i jacked up the car and had a lookaround there is only one small dent to sill (see photos) where as the rest looks straight. I couldnt open the door and thought best leave it to the panel beaters so i couldnt see under the carpet, however took some photos from beneath and it seems good. i think i will need to look under the carpet to get the final verdict.

hopefully off to the panel beaters early next week.

                        opinions appreciated...

                        • I had a friend recently have his 1990 celica written off, because of similar damages..

I pray they don't do this to you.

                          • Dom, I doubt they will list it as a unrepairable write off, the pinchweld seam is still straight as mate,( indicates the damage is only to the outer sill i have them here aftermarket ) If the insurance co deems it uneconomical to repair then buy the car back and have it fixed.

I have the door, new sill section and used but salvageable left rear quarter. You can tell the insurance Co, panel guy whatever but the metal is here to fix her. Only issue I can see is if the inside of the B pillar is bent inwards, I no longer have the internal section, only the external skin. Fingers crossed mate, Keep us in the loop bud.

                            • dropped the car at the panel beaters on Monday night, was sad leaving it was looking perfect from the drivers side lol.

spoke to the panel beater yesterday and he seemed to be pretty sure i'll be able to keep the car. He said that as it has an agreed value of $10k with NRMA then they would pay up to $10k to repair it. He's dealt with NRMA before and seemed very sure of himself.

given that; early respray perhaps??? decisions!

hoping to get an update today.

                              • awesome news then.

Give the oppourtunity, I'd scrounge around for some extra cash, and get the whole lot resprayed!
