good bushings too! I remember that was one of the first mods i did to my first mk1, and since the old bushings were so bad, the difference was AMAZING.
OP - good working getting the car back on the right track. Looks like a very solid shell!
Well done.

mounting point on chassis rail all dressed up and knocked into shape
and with the new stud
the rear beam has a coat of epoxy on it and new bushes... they were fun to put in
just need to put the brake lines on and then its in
hopefully by next weekend
Great work mate. Wasnt as hard as i thought it would be. I had the same problem with the stud, where i over tightened it and it snapped. However i just welded it the beam, and leftover stud. If i need to remove, ill just grind away haha.
Oh and pete, is it possible i take you up on the offer for parts off the half cut? I really need a stock exhaust, as mine is driving me crazy hehe. Is that exhaust usable, or is the stuff inside that keeps it quiet, needs to be replaced?

I don't think I've got any mufflers in good enough condition to be bothered with sorry. Try an exhaust place, a rear universal muffler is pretty cheap.
put the rear beam in tonight, pretty happy with how it fits and measures up.
still need to re-build the rear brakes, then it will be back on its feet...
