        I'll second this.
Any info on what the mechic is working on to get it up to scratch?

Can't wait to see this out and about (happy laps in June hopefully)

Exhaust needs fixing, should be fairly straight forward.
Indicator wiring is slightly dodgy, it needs to be strengthened so that it works all the time.
Front bumper needs securing with something other than cable ties
          Rear left door lock.
          ????
          Hopefully that's all.

          • Golf passed its roadworthy today yeww!!

However I'll be in Sydney this weekend and busy all next week, so won't be able to take it to get registered until next Thursday, so just in time for the track day on Saturday morning.

            Happy days.

            • AWWWW YEAH!!!!!!!
9 days to go until we see how the little silver bullet goes.

Will be a good intiation for it considering the future use plans and also will give you a good idea of how she performs without having to worry aobut pesky enforced speed limits

              • OMG spoke too soon.

The car was parked at the road worthy place, and some dude in a Hilux reversed into it, crumpled the guard and maybe smashed the rear right light, got the fuel cap too.

Apparently the guard was pushed down into the tyre so it won't be driveable until it gets fixed

                • Oh FFS that is BS. I hope the Hilux drivers sorts it all out asap. Sorry to hear man.

                  • You gotta be kidding me.
                    Such rotten luck.

At least you know we have the happy laps every month
Gives you more time to get used to it before you give it a baptism by fire at lakeside/QR

                    • Got it registered today

Then drove it straight to the smash repairs, they will have it fixed up by next Friday they say.

First impressions driving it: little bit rough but overall not bad at all. Brakes are a bit weak, might just need more bedding in. Engine goes well, gets up to 60 fine.

I'll need to take all the crap out of the boot and drive it in the dry to get a better view.

                      • Nice work on getting it registered.
Fingers crossed we will see this thing out at Lakeside in August.

I am also organising a street sprint series for SE QLD members so you could get even more competitive in that area if happy laps isn't enough.

                        • Gave it a good drive to make sure it was safe, noticed a few odd knocks so just sorting them out, nothing major so far though

Also lowered the front a bit and raised the rear, so it's sitting pretty much even all round.

                          • So no problems getting the damage fixed?

Nope, just took longer than expected, it was to the rear right, and as you can see in the photo it's perfect.

They did manage to break the central locking when they were repairing it, but it was just a vacuum line out which I slotted back into place easily.

                              • Bit of a driving report, took the Golf up Mount Nebo today for a run to test it out.

Very happy with the suspension, brakes have a bit of travel in the pedal beforecoming alive - but they bite hard. Engine is so shocking though, 3rd gear foot to the floor everywhere just to keep up to speed, and if the revs dropped in a tigh corner it was terrible.

So I'm booked in for a track day including driver training on the 18th August, and from there I will decide what to do with the engine. Wonder how much all up a 1.8t conversion would be if I sourced all the parts....
