  • You regret selling the MK2 right, look how much work this bucket is to keep on the road - almost had to rebuild it!

    Killer effort Al!

    • yer it truly a case of that

sunday arvo what better time to install your fresh new bfi mount, you say, all is going well last bolt tightening up and limp, stripped the ken thread.with a restless night plotting the repair , i limped out to work.

cut a long story short i had a sleeve machined from a m14 1.5 bolt and tapped a m12 1.5 thread inside it,super tidy and really close tolerences.them drilled and tapped the mount to m14 1.5 and wholla the rest is history, while i was at it i put the gearbox side stage 2 mounts in too.

      mobile massager anyone

aint no rocking going on there thats for sure, will look at the dogbone tommoz

          • kicked some major goals on the wheels front today pics soon

stole some parts from the mk1 to finish the ps reseroir(wanted the little bottle) and made an adaptor to replicate the oem bottle 12mm in 16mm out

turned out super tidy , couldnt hide that bfi mount any longer

            before parting

            n bored out

                • thanks lads

took a trip out to the boys at Neale wheels, whom i have dealt with over the last 8 odd years and low and behold wal comes to save the day

some 18x9's and some 2"(making some 18x8 ) lips,am gonna fit up the 18 x9 and see how much i can fit in the arches as there is a possibility of 2.5" lips and so on.just need to get the recess on the centres increased by 2 odd mm

for anyone interested in custom/one off/3 piece 2 piece anything you need to get over to neales, they are amazing

out with the blades in with the spokes

                      • This is turning out real sick.
MK1>A3 though! Stealing parts from the MK1? Come on, I'd rather see awesome MK1 progress!
But they're your builds. Good on ya.

                        • 8 on the front 9 up back

the mk1 is basically done, just needs to be painted and put together, all hose looms and bits are sorted

i am waiting on moving it home(when i get a garage) and doing the painting then , as its not the best environment to have a freshly painted car and i want to take my time with the rebuild so have a less hectic workspace will be good

its really nice to modify a car you drive everyday, every little thing you do you can feel and fully appreciate, and you can adjust and decide as you go

dont get me wrong i am so so keen to bring on the mk1 , you know what they say about perfection

                          • coolant bubble delete, stuffed up the lower outlet so need to redo that outlet.wanted to integrate it into the joiner as apposed to how everyone else does it(inline closer to the radiator)as i have gotten rid of the hard line that usually comes out of the top of this joiner.

used a nice billet radiator cap mount from an engineering mob on ebay, really nice pieces

and a stant cap to finish it off

                            • When I drove this car last October, it was pretty fast but rough around the edges - this build is amazing Alex - to see the potential and make it happen.

Those wheels are going to be tops.
