yep yep, all sorted steve, think i have sorted most of the leak and am now peaking boost at 16/17 ish,so only down a few points.Turned the dv up a few clicks more and it seems to be holding more boost and not leaking(i think the extra lubrication has worn off too dammed wd 40)
the car is now reacting well seems to a more gradual delivery but still comes on on mass and seems to make more power for longer.its amazing to feel the inlet manifold now and it is cold.
am going to leak test the system as i am not 100 puscent sure it leak free
i have noticed a flutter on idle now, seems to have started from when i did the down pipe??any thoughts??
last but not least came out the other night to find about 10 litres of water (3" deep) in the driverside footwell(had beeen damp before but nothing major), on investigation the leaf cover rain tray thing wasnt sealing along the top,had had a bodgy silicone job at some stage,so the water was pouring through the heater/blower inlet/filter.
had some carbon floating around so put in a cover and re siliconed the seal, should be sorted now
i scored the seat from a guy who imported it from the states, my daughter doeant even like it, but she is stuck with it

sweet work Al.
if the WD40 has worn off. Wurth does a lubricant similar to WD40 that is designed to leave a long lasting lubricant film. not sure what it's called, we used it alot when I worked at a BMW motorcycle joint and it was qualityVW: it aint just a car, its a way of life

that doesn't really make sense, you could make it as slippery as you wanted. Its more likely a function of the overboost maps looking like things are changing. This is assuming the BOV doesn't just leak for whatever reason.
When I get some time I'll delve into what these maps actually do in conjunction with the other boost maps - whether its a time out and duty cycle based thing or something else.

i was just thinking it was lubed up more so vac/boost was keeping it open as it was lubed and less restrictive, just a theory??
it would be great for a little more insight

binned the atmospheric dump on the dv and put it on full recirculate ,as now its putting cooled air back into the system ,the more the merrier.
off for some 205/40's was going for 195/40's but are out indefinately, should help with the rubbing n so on.
Have another pod filter and a 3" bend left over from the boost pipe and am thinking of doing a twintake style intake, seems to benifit tfsi motors so will see what it can do for me.
And will revise the hard line for the dv return as its rubbing on the power steering line and im not overly happy with how visable it is, was a case of getting the car finished and driving and i cut a few corners re design.

got me some new boots full rebuild is needed unfortunately
and some quality hoses care of hps
twintake??
and built the new return for the dv, now travels under the motor and up around the gearbox(still need to paint it
and throttle body pipe on still need to do the turbo one
Am going to do a clean up of the vac system and bin the charcoal canister and refeed the dv and boost gauge just waiting on the right vac line
and yet again no pics with the bumper on, seems i am always in a rush when putting the car back together and getting home

Looks good, the poor K03 must be about to come out surely
You should do the pipe work as a kit for some of the other guys

Just looked through your thread from start to finish. loving the 'standard' car
Great work.
regarding the twin intake, whats the idea behind it? the two pipes are leading into one the same size. so obviously your not going to get twice as much air. is it just that the filters are the 'restrictive' part in the whole set up and it should help by having twice as much surface area of the filter to take advantage of??
