managed a bit more of the dissasembly process today..

crapped out shock bolts required use of the grinder + cut off wheel..

Once the rear axle was out of the way, the fully welded exhaust could then be removed from the scene...

with the gear shift linkage, steering rack all removed, it's now a bare shell...

So just converting the rotisserie drawings to metricated steel sizes, then I will fab up that contraption...
    Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

    Cheers,

Well the shell is stripped free of all parts, found a few more rust issues ( mostly minor) .
Have posted on the tex for some donor sheetmetal to repair the rust and damaged locations...( have some leads already...fingers crossed.. )

getting this sorted will be the biggest job...

but pretty happy with where it's at so far..

Just found a good panel shop to Pull the 80 Storm front round for me also..( rhs of last pic..)

          A pillar

How do you intend dealing with the rust in the "A" pillar?

What were the rims did you have on it? They looked like the Enkeis' I have on my Little Beastie.

Attempting to get some rust free parts cut from damaged US cars.. think the A pillar is the outer skin only ( 3 pieces in there)

had 2 x BBS RA , and the others were the standard GTI rims for the period ( 1980) same as those you were looking at but 1/2 " wider.

I have just borrowed a book from the local library caled VW Golf and derivatives by John Blunnsden. It has great pics on the Scirrocco. In fact it has inspired my to track one down one day. Not being Aussie delivered (i think), how would you go about getting one?

There is one in Melbourne with a hit up the back. Nice car tho.
                      See the classifieds on here.

And there is a 1982 one in a field in Sydney that I know of.

Thanks guys, reading a bit further a Scirroco GTX looks and sounds the biz by the specs. A Corrado VR6 also looks pretty cool as well. I suppose to get a decent one of either, besides through you all, a personal import would be the go.
Oh well dream for the moment and just concerntrate on getting the best out of the Little Beastie as I can with all of your collective knowledge.

Well after a few weeks abroad, I have no excuse to get back into the rocco project...

Visited some rocco bretheren whilst in the UK...

                            Andy is building up a Mk1 1.8T....

looking good with a huge amount of attention to details ( factory clamps, brackets etc..)

The red MK 2 is destined to have almost all its innards sent here ...trans, fuel system complete, TSW wheels , wiring . Pity these cars are so cheap in europe now, cant give them away......

The DE headlamps will be coming this way for one of the rocco's in the stable..

Spied this MK2 going down Birdcage walk in London......
