  • My Caddy project...

Well, I finally got it here on monday after its overseas trip.
I pulled the deisel out on wednesday and set about converting the Passat
9A twincam 2 litre to fit the Caddy.
I have kept everything in it so as to be able refit the 1.6 deisel if needs be later on. It needs a rebuild though.
Anyway, heres my progress over the last 2 days...

    Before...

    Out it comes

    Pretty filthy, took some cleaning!!!

It should be a bit of fun. The coilovers will go in after its registed I think. I have the 4 wheel discs off the Passat, after the rust repairs, they go on.The engine pipe and exhaust will hold me up a bit but I should have the wiring and pumps fitted this weekend, Its all fun and I cant wait to have it to use for work duties.
      No more smoke mate!!! Yay!!!

        Absolutely awesome Andrew!

You definately don't stuff around & get the job done.

Maybe a bit of the work overload from the ol 76er build rubbed off on you.

Can't wait to see this finished & going.

Thanks guys, I want to get on with it and finish it asap. I built Gunter up in 4 weeks after it came back from having the front and rear bodywork replaced.
Tim, thats by far the nicest and tightest (clean please) 76er I have ever driven and I drove them in 1976!!
The caddy will be good when the suspension is all done , oh, plus the brakes, oh, and everything else!!!!
Cant wait to drive it again already!!

Thanks Josh, pity you were away while I was in Melbourne. Hope you had a good holiday.
I had better get off the puter and get to work for the day. Damn wiring!!!

Thanks Dave, we had better ship it off to Germany with some seats in the back for the females to sit in while we do Nurburgring!!!

Feel free to drag your motivated butt up to Orange and throw my 16v in my golf when (if) i (ever) get it back together! Haha.

Thanks Preeny, I couldnt imagine a lot of work going on up there if I popped up there!!!
Someone is paying for me to go up to Sydney over the Aust. day weekend to work on a Daihatsu Teriois of all things!!
Its easy sticking a TC in but its all the rest of the stuff that takes the time.
Fuel pump, wiring and all the ancillaries.
I have the computer mounted now, the intake figured, and the radiator sorted. Just figuring a place for the fuel pump assembly now. The fuel tank is an aftermarket one and is probably about 100 litres in size!
I have wired a few injected motors into Mk1s now and it doesnt get any easier.

Finding enough room for the pump, ect is proving difficult due to the larger fuel tank... I want to keep the spare wheel under the rear which proves a little bit of extra nutting out.
The wiring is never straight forward either.
Oh well, time for a breather. (Give Jarred a little time to gain on me!)
