SAVED FROM THE SCRAPPERS: The Mk1 recovery mission

As some of you've seen in the wanted to buy section, i'm on a bit of a rescue mission to save the rotting, neglected mk1's sitting around in sheds and yards in the Perth area.
This is the first:
roccodingo gave me this one yesterday as it was about to be chopped up!!
Rotten floor, and some slight twist to the bodyshell, so it'll be a perfect track day and hillclimb car. Will keep the really straight cars for the road and lessen the risk of bending them terminally.
Don't worry, this wont distract from my 20vt convo, it's just a rescue mission.... for now. I'll store them up at the workshop where they'll be checked over properly, and gradually restored and re-licensed.
If we save just a couple, or ten mk1's from unnecessary death it will still be worth it!

BTW, its a '76er with the early bonnet!!
You can see the different gappage from both doors and the funny overhang of the tailgate out the sides.

It was buggered anyway, all cracked and broken. Just a cheap plastic kit. Ugly as imo

yeah that kit looks like the one a guy was looking for a while back. supposed to be worth couple 100 , prob more than the car.

Ha yea. If it was in ok condition i woulda kept it and sold it, but def wouldn't use it. NOTHING can improve the factory mk1 styling

Kit front piece had already numerous fibreglass repairs from ages ago seeing most of the glass fell of once it was off the car, There was also more recent damage to the piece, can get the bits if anyone is interested but you better be quick in responding, the bin is full , so i think the truck will be here next day or two to remove the skip...



The rust in the floor was quite substantial, supprised it didnt fall out with my weight on it even..the sills didnt look to bad after the kit came off either, so hopefully it will be a good base for Wade's project.

Ally wheels that were in the car are available if anyone's interested, sans tyres.....set of 5.



Going by the amount of crap in the car, I think it was the PO's private bin...



early wiper and indicator switches available as is 4 lamp front grilleand SAAS steering tiller...

keeping this tho...



Already nicked the 4 good tyres for the cabrio, bumpers, headlights, early 4 speed and the spare engine. Another member here has dibs on the GTI front calipers, lynx sidedraught manifold . got to check out the cam in the spare engine also yet... told it was "modified ".....
