I have just been through this. I got stuffed around by a few clubs saying they were getting CAMS affiliation. I needed it asap, so this was no good to me.
Try find a club that
A) is definatly CAMS affiliated.
B) Maybe find somewhere that is interesting in the same type of racing as you
C) a club that is cheap. there is no point spending heaps of cash if you just want the membership as a formality.
I hope this helps a bit. I know if found it hard to find the right club, in the end i just found one that was CAMS affiliated and cost effective.~~~~____~~~~~~~~~_\_____
