Could be done at my joint...I would suggest doing it on home turf just in case thing get..ahem..."difficult".
From memory (which is constantly fading) the ring gear is riveted onto the OEM diff...so they will have to be drilled out.

This is a Mk6 GTI diff...but I think the set-up is similar...Best liaise with The Master of all things 9N (AKA Gav).

Alan, very keen to hear your feedback and comparison on the plate diff, though I can't really justify the cost. I've driven the red car daily this week and I think to make it more streetable that a LSD would help.
