Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

That's interesting. To be fair these tyres I bought relatively cheap with a late 2011 manufacturing date. Combined with asking the tyre to do a heap of work under load on a FWD with 300Kwaw it does happen.

I think heat cycles and pressure is what people have been saying is critical for a good life.

              • Alan, what session did the tyre let go in? I'd be less surprised in the first session given the low pressure, though I don't think it was the first session...

Counting down the weeks till my current tyres are knackered and Kumho V70A's go on. I'm expecting TA in August will be their last outing, which means some silly stuff between now and than

Couldn't agree more. I was also told to avoid ripple strips until tyres are at optimum temps.

During 3rd session after 4th lap which incidentally was my fastest lap. I really think I was on track to beat it heading into turn 6. Pressures at 30psi.

I'd put those good tyres on for next outing and flick the knackered ones.

                          • I'll be keen to hear how the joint sprints with the 86 Club go today.

Seems like a good day for it with cool dry air and no clouds.

                              none of us went.

i was going to join until i realised they run 20 cars at a time with cars / drivers doing variety of lap times.. some are surely fast though.

timeattack does it 10 cars at a time and group is based on lap times.

i prefer to focus on driving instead of overtaking when doing timed laps.
