We could have a "Basic track day prep" meeting sometime where the old hands can guide the newbies on exactly what's needed and how to most easily do it.

Thanks Pete, that narrows it down nicely.

A stickied post in this forum would be a good start

        Emptying car of crap
Checking pressures, brakes, oil, general stuff
        Tape/Contact headlights (still a requirement?)
        Fit tow hooks?
        Battery position sticker
        Secondary bonnet retention mechanism

Making your list is pretty straightforward.

I was more thinking about showing what is involved in implementing things like the secondary bonnet retention system, fire extringuisher brackets, even help on rear seat removal.

Yeah I meant the list as a start and then the hands on stuff afterwards just so people had the basic concepts to get everyone on the same page

Yeah, it's on my list of things to do. There's a lot of the info already in my wreck to race thread where I was getting heaps of questions on the subject.

Just need to pull it all together when I've got a minute.

Everything is in here CAMS Online Manual of Motor Sport but it can be a bit confusing to the uninitiated.

Or you could just go to a race meeting and see the process first hand.

Follow a car through the pits and ask the scrutineers what they're looking for.

What wet tyres do you use?

I'm thinking of going up to Winton for the Tampered M/S track day on the 24th of July (Sunday) since I won't be up for the VSSC this weekend. Then I can trash the other pair of OE tyres before I fit my semi-slicks.

What model/pattern are they? Are they really soft and spongy?
