  • It's USF1 though, they will make a widebody car to fit the US driver market.

    • I remember when mansell came out of retirement to drive for McLaren - he was too big to fit the car and they had to redesign the cockpit LOL

            • i went to Adelaide many years ago and absolutely loved the whole experience.

I havent missed a single GP on tv for the last 26 years.

Unfortunately my funds are being redirected into other activities, so coughing up for another live GP isnt on the cards for the next few years

              • I am very very excited I finally get to see an F1 race, I've wanted to go ever since it moved to Melbourne. Cant quite figure if I want GA or seating tix though...

Flights are ludicrously cheap atm too, jetstar only wants $358 return!! :O

Check out Virginblue happy hour fares everyday day @ 12pm AEST. You might be lucky and get $150 one way tix.

As for seating, IMO you can't beat turns 1 & 2 on race day. So the Brabham or Jones Stand would be good. It all depends on how much you're willing to spend.

GA would be great for the other 3 days.

Either way i'm sure you're gonna love it.
Just to give you an idea of how good turns 1 & 2 can be for action check these pics i took in 2008 from a Corporate Stand in between turns 1 & 2.

                  Cheers,
                  Jayse.

                    • i havent miss any race since i start watching it since 1998.

and yes $$$ is always the issue, now that i hve 2 little ones money go to them now.

They are awsome shots Jayse. Lastime i was there was 04 and i was in the last turn, shumi stand. You dont see much action but hearing those engine reved up with out ear plug man it kills youre ear, but loved it.

                      • I'm really not a fan of virginblue, but cheap is cheap!

As far as I can tell you cant book single day grandstand tickets. I'd love to do GA for thurs & fri, then turns 1&2 for sat & sun.

Did you know F1 cars make something like 160db on full throttle?

                        • I went to Adelaide in 1989, sitting in the front row on pole position (in a grandstand, not in a car unfortunately!)

The first time a car went past, it was like someone had stuck a hot knitting needle straight thru my eardrums - I was delirious with pleasure and pain at the same time!!

The race was a complete washout - Prost refused to race and retired at the end of the first lap, Senna and Mansell both spun and crashed.

The race ended half way through and was the shortest race in GP modern history (despite the fortune I spent getting there!!)

                          • Saw the trucks taking the concrete barriers from Altona to the track yesterday.

I was in Shumi for last years race day. This year in Jones stand. Hopefully high enough to see OVER the safety barriers. Got the 4 stand multi pass again this year. I think we're in Clark, Fangio, Brabham and Jones.

We got return flights on Jetstar from Sydney on a sale about 6 months ago for $45 each way. Out of Tullamarine too. bring it on!

yeah, the safety barriers are a PITA to take photos, lucky the corp area i was in was high enough to look over it.
