If that's a Repco branded oil, I seriously doubt that.

I use Castrol EDGE - and the last time I saw the workshop here on the Gold Coast - they use it there too - I get it from Super Cheap - waited till it was on special for $35 - then used $10 of my Club Rewards to bring it down to $25. BARGAIN

Both the Repco and Castrol Edge oils don't say "low SAPS" - hence may not be the best choice for late model turbo engines...

Not sure that the professional version is the same as the garden variety Edge 5w-30 as the TDS is different.

You can't buy the Castrol Professional line at retailers.

The one at Supercheap is Castrol Edge Sport. It's 502/505 which is fine in many instances (I run 502.00 in my car on 7500km change intervals).

I think the OP has a diesel with DPF so 502/505 would be verboten.

To the OP: The cheapest you'll get 504/507 for is ~$65 for Penrite Enviro+ 5w-30. Maybe a bit cheaper on a 20% off sale but often the stores seem to hide the good stuff on those days (or it sells out quick).



It would help if you told people what engine you had so that the petrol lads don't post petrol based info.

it tells you on the back if it APPROVED for VW 504/507. If it doesn't it isn't and you use it at your peril.

Look on the Penrite Enviro+ and it says that.

NOT the new G5+ or whatever its called as that is a GM approved oil.

Supercrap and Autobarn only sell the Penrite VW approved The Castrol Professional III is only available at Dealers for about $93 for 5 L

Shell Helix Ultra EXTRA is approved but only for Petrol engines and is 502/505

Use the wrong stuff long enough in a diesel and you better put aside $5K for a new DPF when it clogs up with too much crap in it.

The salesman who wasn't there should have given you a Castrol pamphlet about the correct oil otherwise after a few days of short reads in the bog you will come to the fuels and lubricants section of the manual where it will tell you what to use.
So as you wont be further confused ignore the longlife details as only time and distance is used in Australia so it 12 months or 15000k whichever comes first.

IS Nulon now approved as last time I looked it was "Suitable" for VW which is a lot different to "Approved" for VW.

Consequently I wont use it.
