Penrite (Enviro Plus) & Nulon (Full Synthetic 5W-30 EURO Engine Oil) Oils are available at our local Auto Pro. Both are 504.00/507.00.

I'm not sure that the Nulon is approved oil? It says formulated to exceed the demands of VW504.00/507.00, which doesn't mean that the oil was approved by VW.

I wouldn't use it you will void your warranty.

If a person was to use Nulon Oil in their VW and there was an engine problem, then it would have to be proved that the oil was the cause of the problem. If that was the case, then a claim against the oil manufacturer would be in order.

While the Penrite Oil web site states "Approved oil for Volkswagen/Audi diesel engines and direct injection petrol engines calling for Longlife III Type (VW 504.00/507.00 approved) engine oils.
SAE 5W-30, VW 504.00/507.00 MB - Approval 229.51 and BMW LL-04", it does not say that Volkswagen approved it. In fact it give the approval numbers from Mercedes & BMW, so in our case, it is no better than Nulon.

Yes, you will find that "Penrite ENVIRO+ 5W-30" is indeed on Volkswagen's approved oils list, spec 50400/50700.

Just picked up 5 litres of Castrol SLX Powerflow III from my local VW parts department for $78. I thought people said that you couldnt buy this oil anywhere? And got some oil filters through a contact at Audi. Keen to change the oil now.

Not quite - it's available from the dealer (as you've discovered), but you won't find it in retail stores.

I wonder if that is an old stock. The one I bought is in a silver container and retails around $130, as it's now imported as a VW part.

It all changes as Castrol make the SLX Pro range as themselves. But they do make oil to be badged as for VW.

Also, disregard my post from last night haha. I was thinking of Edge Sport 5w-30. Which I ordered for $162/20L.

I can get Enviro+ in the 5L for around 60, 20L for around 250.

If anyone wants any, let me know.

I personally prefer oil that is made overseas. I'm not sure where is the above pictured Castrol oil made; my guess is that it is made locally.
Who ever changed that dealers have to buy oil from VW in Geramany, must have had a good reason for it.

Yes they did have a good reason. Instead of selling it for about $80, they now sell it for $130.

Just purchased Liqui Moly TOP TEC 4200 | 5W-30 from Autobarn, $80 for 5L.

It says it's VW 504.00 / 507 and made in Germany.

I hope it's good, will change the oil soon in the next 2 weeks.
