 Hi guys,
I have never looked into paint protection/coating before but thinking of getting it this year for my R 7.5.
I know all the options from the dealers are crap but they offered my $995 for Paint Surface Coating from this new mob they use, Motor One. The stuff they use is called Protective and is nano ceramic and silica dioxide.
Is it too much in price? It's lifetime warranty but generally all the after sales stuff from the dealerships and rip offs so don't know.

Where is this Pomponazzi place so I can check it out?

Don't bother with Motor One, their terms and conditions are just stupid. You have to take the car back to them on a regular basis and they have to inspect it. There are so many exceptions that they will try and get out of any claim. Not worth the paper its written on. Stay away from the dealer offerings!BMW Z4 (2019)

Yup dont do dealer protection its crap and a huge mark up for them
Check pomponazzi website for approved appliers
There are 2 in vic i used divine detailing
Dont forget paint correction is in addition to the coating cost with all applications
If its 2 much check opticoat or quartz coatings
I went with pomponazzi because it looks better on bright paint like my tornado red its like i got it resprayed in a deeper/glossier red but it costs lol

If your getting the blue it will be worthwhile looking at pomponazzi it will be so deep you could swim in it

Grey or white... it will protect but the dull colours dont pop as much irrespective of which coating you getLast edited by Kachingg; 01-08-2017, 09:51 AM.2017 Golf Alltrack 135tdi All options

The difference between pomp and non pomp

this photo car driven off dealer lot up the road maybe 1.5k nice and shiny with dealer polish
Same day now driven about 30km check out the reflections in paint nice but not super sharp

This is 1 day after pomp coating driven 50km and sat in dusty yard all day reflections you could almost shave by
and a deep gloss to the paint

Drove back to dealers forgot to get my 2nd key and service books at pick up last week to excited this photo about 30 min after other pomp one

 Hey guys

1 month update on pomp protection

1st 2 bucket wash this week easy as been washing with pressure wash 1 or 2 times a week as car at work sits in a dusty carpark with over 150 trucks driving in and out all day get covered with fine dust everyday

Easy to wash and still looks like new beads fine and still has that deep gloss look even under all the dust
Bird poo comes off easy as just a spray with pressure wash or a quick wipe with wet microfibre towel(if presure wash not avalabile)

Will post some photo's tomorrow as it bucketed down rain just after i wash and shammy dammit

I will try and keep this thread updated for a long time with 3 to 6 mth updates as i was vry frustrated when looking for protection coatings as nobody has any good long term report's hope i can help some others who are in the same boat2017 Golf Alltrack 135tdi All options

Yeah you got to justify the cost as mine has a heap of enviromental hazards from dust to mud to bird poo and tree sap plus not undercover for 90% of life with red being a quick fading colour i splashed out on what i thought was going to help me long term but nothing wrong with the other good coatings ie opticoat and ceramic pro ect most important is getting your paint correction done really well before a coating as any imperfections will stay under coat foreverOriginally posted by Chocolate_Bear View PostThanks mate. Well I booked in for Opticoat plus from Dan's Garage in Surrey Hills.
Recommended by a mate at work who got his merc done, he is quite booked out, couldn't get a booking until December 17.
It will be paint correction and ceramic coat.
Really not sure why I'm doing it, I have had my last 2 GTIs for 4 years and never had it done, the paint still looks good and I can't notice any swirl marks.
Haven't decided how long I'm going to keep the R for (all depends on what the mk 8,) looks like, but new to this paint protection thing so not really sure what to expect. I just want the paint to look glossy all the time and for a layer of protection of scratches to paint.

Anyways I'll post photos and the end of the year once done but Dan's Garage has had rave reviews online.Last edited by kennyc; 03-10-2017, 10:05 PM.MK7.5 R|Lapiz Blue|DAP|Sunroof|Tint
