Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Bulk Microfibre Towels

    Gday All,

Ive been on the look out for a bulk pack 50 or Higher or 300gsm or higher Microfibre towels.

Bunnings sell a 10 pack for $8 - but no indicatoin of GSM. Might be 250 ????

Find {productName} at Bunnings. Visit your local store for the widest range of products.

Anyone else found anything similar (less than $1 per towel)

    Cheers,
    Mark.

If you have a costco nearby and know a member, the Kirkland branded microfibres are awesome value for general duty stuff. Pretty much less than a $1 each and in pack of 35 from memory

I use the costco towels for dirty parts of the car - wheels/door jambs/engine bay etc. They have been known to scratch/mar softer paint though.
I use optimum edgeless towels, purchased from ZAS for paintwork. 40 towels for $100. Get some microfibre wash and chuck them in the washing machine and reuse.

ahh spewin, cheapest CostCo to me is 2hour drive each way.

Would need to buy 2 pallets of towels to save a $ , in time and fuel + memerbship costs.

@CraigR - what Microfibre wash are we talking kind sir ?

There are heaps of choices when it comes to microfibre wash. I use the Mint Mwash - Link below:

You can use normal washing detergent, but just make sure it is the liquid type and the powder may not fully dissolve and get trapped in the MF towel.

I just use regular clothes washing liquid and my towels are ok.

Clothes washing LIQUID is okay. Powder is a no no. Sometimes the powder doesn't properly dissolve and can get trapped in the fibres, then you go rub that into your paintwork...
