  • Weather strip on driver's side door

    Hey guys

I bought my mk6 TDI second hand nearly 6 months ago. I'm pretty picky about appearances so this really irks me and I don't know how to go about fixing it...

    (sorry about poor pic)

Every now and then the weather strip on the driver's side door pops up. When I push it back down it feels like it slots into place snugly but then does the same thing again the next day. Perhaps some kind of adhesive would do the trick but I'm not so sure these strips should be glued on. Any tips?

I would be more upset about the paint off the edge of the door and what looks like rust starting in the join in the handle.

Take the whole strip out and bend it gently so that it curves down at the ends and refit it. Might take a bit of hot air from a hairdryer or similar to get it to bend. Could be one of the clips broken

Thanks. Paint chipping is unfortunate but did pick up on that before buying. No rust though. Think that's just the pic

Hate to be the bearer of bad news , but if anything like a mk v , you will have to dismantle the door which involvesunbolting the door skin. As the belt mould is screwed on from the inside. We did one on a mkv Jetta at work a couple of weeks back

There's a field fix that VW issued for this.

You apply adhesive felt to the metal lip that the weather strip attaches to.
