Hi all I have a pair of OSIR carbon fibre mirror covers that have started to yellow. Any suggestions how to get it back to it's good looking self?
I have contacted OSIR to see what their thoughts are.
If it helps, a few years back, I purchased an ex show car from Japan, which had a whole heap of carbon fibre bodywork fitted:
After a few months on the docks, and a few more months parked outside, all the Carbon fibre started to go yellow. The solution was to get the car professionally polished: the CF ended up looking like liquid glass: very glossy and deep: like brand new. I'm not entirely sure how they polished it, suffice to say it took a few hours, but the results were amazing- as I'm a rank amateur when it comes to proper detailing, I left it to the pros, but be aware it can be done...
sounds like they are oxidising. Carbon fibre is clear coated like most paintwork so polishing should be your first option. Hopefully its not happening under the clear.
