So I finally purchased a foam lance and some Mint Snow Foam product
I've wanted one for some time,
I do 550km per week - I get a lot road film from rush hour traffic
I often have to park under trees at work - that's a nightmare
I considered buying the Kracher $20 lance but other people have been disappointed with it
So I got the AutoBrite (same as the Mint) lance ($99) which is a quality product made in Italy
(It has 20 brass components, it's heavy and sturdy, very different impression to the plastic fantastic options)
The lance is very controllable - both the spray volume and the foam mixing controls work well
Here is a picture of my Skoda post foaming it with the lance
(It was not a dark day - the bright white foam tricked the camera into darkening the image)

The question is, does foaming help clean the car?
I could visually see stuff come off in the rinse, tree sap, tar and grime
I was pleased and will continue to use the lance and foam
The process is
The foam product is pretty expensive at $15 per 500ml or $25 per litre
(Obviously the 1 litre option is better value)
You don't use much per wash however, something like ~50ml

The process is
- Spray the heavy crap off the car first
- Foam the car and leave for 10 minutes (do not let the foam dry on the car)
- Rinse the foam off
- Proceed with your normal detailing activities
