3m Crystalline CR40 or CR50. Window Film

When I was purchasing the car I wanted to find out more information about different films so declined the dealers offer. Opting to organise the window film myself, I was sure I could save some money this way too.

After some looking I decided on a non metallic film with IR reduction. There are several brands offering similar films and one of the suppliers at work has quoted what I think is an amazing price to install 3M crystalline.

Now I just need to decide in the darkness and was hoping people could mention their experience with the different levels of this film specifically. Colour of the car is Night blue and worried that a darker film may not look as good.

There is a legal limit as to how much light you can prevent from coming in.

Or in another way How dark you can make the tint I think its about 30-35% maximum but a respectable tinter will know.

I came across this for WA when I was looking into it, max is 35% (Lower number = darker) for side and back windows, in WA we are not able to place anything on the windscreen.

40% is as dark as the crystalline goes. Google results shows people commenting on it being light but pictures I have found appear really dark (may be camera angle etc) so was thinking of 50%. I'm sure to be over thinking it all and will just go with the 40% unless anyone confirms that it appears as dark as photos in real life.
