303 squeak when used on door seals

Thanks Jetta (I just sold my beloved Jetta TDi - loved that car). Have you seen this link Restoring rubber seals with BMW Gummi-Pflege. Did you use your digits to apply this muck, like the Bimmer dude did?

I used WURTH Rubber Care on the door seals in my T5, it stopped the noise from the door area that I could only explain as it was from the door seals.

Hey Stu, the bottle I got has a foam applicator on the top if it. Squeeze the bottle and the liquid drains into the foam. Then you just run the foam along the door seal till the foam is dry and then squeeze the bottle again. Just keep repeating the process.

I find it very strange as the original product was designed for aviation rubbers/gaskets to be protected. Highly unusual.

Yeh, the squeaks are settling down a bit now and I love the result it has had on other surfaces, but I have ordered some Gummi Pflege in any case. Maybe the HORSE has bolted! S.

I would be using Gummi Pflege rubber care on your door seals. That's what it's designed for. I had the same issue with my Golf until I used Gummi Pflege and now it's pretty darn quiet.

Gummi Pflege doesn't seem to work either. In fact, I think it has made it worse. Bloody hell, what do I have to do to fix this damn problem? Is this something that the dealership will actively help me in? S

Hey stucam, most people who get this issue have it after they've cleaned their car and without doing anything to do the rubber seals at all. The issue arises mostly because of the car wash product that they're using, or the polish/wax that they use. The worst case examples of this have been when they've actually applied wax products to the paint in the door jam.

Could the car wash or something you are applying to the paint in the door jams be causing this for you?


When I received my Polo GTI from the dealer, it had this issue already, presumably due to the dealer prep. Over time with me washing the car (just with meguiars gold class wash) and simply wiping the door jams with an old chamois, it went away. But it took about 3 months of car washes. I then didn't have the issue for about 18 months. However, in preparation to sell the Polo GTI, I had the paint professionally polished (black cars, meh!). Whilst they didn't touch the door jams, as they were machine polishing, a certain amount of polish did enter the door jam area. They carefully removed as much as possible, but sure enough, the problem came back.
