Do I need an adaptor for my Bluetooth capable iPod ?

So what exactly does an iPod nano do with its Bluetooth function and how do I access it?....just demonstrating my ignorance again.

Bluetooth is a wireless function between a phone or similar to a headunit in this case You have to pair them together for them to work.

If you don't know how to do this I suggest reading the manuals for both the devices or Googling "How to pair an Ipod Nano to ??????
