Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Two Minds get a 103tdi now or wait for new one.

AM currently looking at the 103TDI just not sure if I should wait for the new model or grab a 2012 Platin Grey for $31000? As the dealers cant confirm what the new models will be and from what I've read it's more cosmetic than anything else. Will have to sleep on it tonight.

I'll be in the same boat in a couple of months if the facelift isn't out.

You are correct - the new car is a facelift, not a whole new model. Cosmetic changes outside, updated interior and potentially a model styling split (urban vs country) which again seems mostly cosmetic.

The MY12 pricing being offered is a bargain & I expect to see a price rise the on the new model. Skodas are normally priced just below VW, if memory serves the Yeti was 2-3000 below the equivalent Tiggy before the MY12 "sale".

Guess it comes down to if you need/want the car now, and are happy with an MY12. Good luck with the decision!

I think the facelift makes a distinctive car look more conservative - which is bad news in the SUV stable, I reckon get the cheap run-out now!

I think you'll be waiting until mid year at least before the update arrives. The City will replace the current 77tsi version and the Outdoor will be the 4x4 versions. It will be interesting to see if Skoda Oz offer any more engine options for the City model. There are very few changes to the interior - steering wheel, and gear knob seem to be most noticeable with some other minor trim changes. It will be interesting to see how Skoda price it in the current competitive market but I'm sure you won't get the updated 4x4 tdi for $31k.

Cheers for the comments, and after trolling the UK sight last night I have decided to go with the MY12 as the differences are not worth the wait. After talking to the Dealer he has stated that the compliance plate will be dated for 2014, so now I have a seven day wait for it to come from NSW, next thought is should I get the extended warranty.

The hardest decision I have to make now is do I sell my XR5

I'd say easily buy the current model, it looks far more distinctive (and better, if I'm honest) than the new model and great deals are being done on the current model.

Compliance plates don't mean as much as the build date which is what defines what it is.

Also what my insurance company uses to insure it.

Some use one some the other.

If its been in the country for a while it is probably already complianced as don't Patricks do it before distributing them.

We ended up just going for the runout model.

$31.5k drive away with metallic paint and reversing sensors.. Can't go wrong with that!!

Sweet what colour did you choose? Did they give you a delivery time? As i'd ordered mine 10 days ago and still not sure on it's arrival or was yours in the yard? Another one did you get the 5yr extented warranty?

                  cheers

We got the 103TDI DSG in lava blue with the reversing sensors. Also got the 5yr warranty with 5yr roadside assist.

We can't pickup until mid-feb anyways, in which they will have it ready for us then. Ours wasn't in the yard had to be sourced.

Nah it's booked in for the 10th Monday week, managed to polish out all but the deep scratches and a couple of dimples, not a good start it just goes to show you that some people don't give a rat's toss about peoples cars.
