  • Factory Recall of front and rear 'Skoda' emblem badge due to falling off.

Just been advised by my dealership that they have received a recall on the front and rear 'Skoda' emblem badges due to them falling off. All dealerships have been advised in writing and that new style silver and black badges (On new models) will be supplied as a replacement free of charge.

Is this for Superbs only, or all Skodas?

I'm not sure. Previous thread mentioned that the badges are being replaced because they fade. Again...my dealership informed me it's because they fall off. I'm not sure what to believe. My car is booked in for Friday along with some other minor glitches. My dealership has a 'Warranty' officer appointed and that's who the recall was directed to. I suggest you make contact with your nearest dealer but it would be a safe bet that it will affect all Skoda vehicles as the badge is the same across the product range.

They had to be hounded into a transmission recall, it seems a badge must be more important.

does anyone have the bulletin number for the recall?
that will confirm if its just for the superb range, or across the board.

interesting though - my badge hasn't "faded". having said that, i still wouldn't mind having new style badges fitted for free.

                DOH!
Both my front and rear badges had 'faded', which seems to be layperson language for 'clearcoat lifted off and looks like ****e'. I bought new badges out of my own pocket around 6 months ago.

Mine got replaced when the car went in for the 15k service in March this year. Didn't even know they were going to replace it until I went to pick the car up!

Did you get a new or old version of the emblem?

Picked up my car, badges replaced, but with the old design... Does anyone have a memo of this recall? Would be keen to see which one I was supposed to get...

OK, dropped my car in this morning for the warranty re-call. Issues that needed to be fixed included.

                        1. Badge re-call (Front and Rear Emblems)
                        2. Tow Bar (Wiring loom) mapping so that when reverse is engaged..it turns off rear sensors etc. I've had the car for one year now and this wasn't done on delivery.
                        3. Slight rattle in engine bay. I predicted heat shield on turbo loose.
                        4. Updated maps for Sat Nav

Car arrived nice and early. Spoke to technician at door way and told him I'd go and have a coffee. He said car would be ready in two hours.

Before I left I said, "What type of badges are you going to replace the old ones with. One of your salesman told me that the new silver & black badges could be fitted as Skoda was aware this is a factory re-call?"
He said, "Not sure, I'll just check with the spare parts department"

He then left and made enquiries. He returned a few minutes later and said, "We have them in stock, it's the same badge as you have now" It's not the new style"
I said, "Well I don't want them fitted. My badges are OK. I'll wait until the new badges arrive and if I have to replace them...it might as well be the most modern product"
He said, "You must have them fitted..we can't fix anything else until your new badges are fitted. It's a factory re-call. It's on a computer linked to your car and the only way to fix this is to actually put new badges on"
I said, "I don't want them. I want the newer version as promised by one of your staff"
He said, Sir, we must fit them. There is no arguements.
I said, Speak with your line manager because I'm not having my bages replaced by these old style when new ones are applicable and available. It is after all....my car"

He then went away and spoke to manager. Came back after a few minutes.

He said, "Well the parts are booked out against you. My manager has agreed to leave the new bages in your glovebox and strike the job off as being complete. Are you happy with that?"
I said, Yes, a lot of who ha and hot air from you guys...but this is my car. I'm not going to put the old style badge on when what's on the car is OK. If I eventually need new badges...I'll get the new style"
He said, "Yeah...the problem is we can't fix the other items on your car under warranty when there's an outstanding re-call. It's Skoda Factory Policy"
I said, OK, just put them in my glovebox and I'll say you fitted them if that keeps you happy"

Picked up car two hours later... Guess what.......Yes, no bages in glovebox. All that puffing of the chest for what.....nothing.
Why do we have Skoda dealerships when I'd get better service from a mobile mechanic.

well, just spoke to 1800 Skoda customer service number and being advised that the replacement badges will be the same as what was originally on a car... Meaning my 2011 Superb, got the old style badge...

Like I said, if somebody got a memo on this recall specifying that the new badges will be installed, please post it here....

My Octavia's rear badge has what looks like little cracks around the edges under the clear coat, my wife has asked me twice if someone has tried to screwdriver it off (even though the paint would likely be stuffed if they did). Now to contemplate if its covered, and more importantly the waste of my time chasing it up and driving an hour to Orange.

I don't think my old car deserves new badges, if they just replace it with what it come with originally, I'd be happy.

Old version, I think. To be honest, it wasn't a big deal for me. It'll get replaced again if something goes wrong in the 4 years I'll have the car
