LED Lighting for Combi (Wagon)

Has anybody had any experience buying (and installing) the R-Dash LED lights? Specifically the whole kit offered on Ali-Express. I'm just a liitle concerned at buying $330 worth of lights and for them to either not work or not fit.

Someone was talking about their interior LED lights staying on slightly all the time. I really want to avoid this as that will definately give my wife a clue that I've changed something......

bought rdash license LED for my previous car...good stuff but $327 for whole set is a bit too much... superskoda has got some? and just get the rest from eBay...?

She won't notice the blinding white light??

Its a huge difference to filament globes and can't be mistaken for anything other than an upgrade....

I've got Superskoda lights for the boot and front interior. Ebay for the rears. Much cheaper than $330...

As this thread has re-opened I'll continue here. I am currently trialing different LED 's for the DRL's and the Fog / cornering lights. However none (and i'm at five different sets now) are simply plug and play. All either throw up error messages or have the wrong polarity or simply don't fit.

Once I have a better comparison I will post it here as well as the AuSodka forum.

I have just fitted a pair of Cree LED lights in my DRLs. Very much improved, no Canbus error and easy fit.

Now, can anyone suggest a way to improve the reversing lights on my wagon? Not a normal bayonet globe.

Yep, What I have come away with is to skip the Super Skoda DRL's in this case as they are not really the right parts. Thanks for the link will add it to my collection, but atm I have another three sets on the way to try.

As for the reversing bulbs they should be W16W which are very similar to the parking lights (and many interior bulbs). A replacement unit should look like this.

The advantage of LEDs was always the much, much longer life and resistance to failure due to vibrations (no filament to break). However, I've heard from quite a few people that many LED solutions don't actually last that much longer than regular but good quality (usually German) globes.

I'm not too keen on paying a premium for a look but don't mind replacing with LEDs if that means tens of thousands of hours of operation.

I guess it depends on how much you are willing to pay. Just for a laugh I've found 10x LED W5W bulbs for $2.85 (total not each) shipped. You'd be hard pressed to find OEM globes for that price.

The quality of a lamp depends on the chip, the way in which its mounted to the board and the design of the heatsink to remove heat from the chip.

having traveled the world reviewing manufacturing processes for an other industry I completely agree with you Slick (wow that sounds like old man talk). Hence the reason I had suggested it depends on what you are willing to spend.

However that does not necessary guarantee a good product. I've inspected the same parts from different continents and it's always the facility and the pride of the workers which gives the best results (quite often at the cheapest cost).

Don't get me wrong, I know that the manufacturing variation in my $2.85 10x pack is going to be extreme but as a manufacturing Engineer I am fascinated as to how some of these items can be made for what I know is below cost to the rest of the world.

Having now stripped down the SuperSkoda parts and confirmed that the manufacturing is the same (and is actually worse than one of the low cost Chinese LED's), paying a premium does not guarantee a good quality part.

Changing from any OEM tested part to an aftermarket part involves some risk and if you do change these parts you should monitor them a little more carefully regardless of who makes it.

And AutoSlick I would love to assist you in developing solutions for the Skodas if you are serious about developing Australian compliant parts and not just on-selling the same "might work" parts that other sites stock. But as with all developed countries industries your barriers are going to be cost of R&D and compliance.
