Fairy 'nuff. The dealer is looking after you which is great to see.

Skoda Australia needs a kick up the bum for not keeping at least one windscreen in stock. Anyway, it's not hard to make a windscreen.

Making a half dozen of one obscure type in a run is usually the way they do it. In the 80's I happened to drive a Jensen Interceptor. I also used to do some contract work for a windscreen manufacturer. One day the owner of the windscreen manufacturing business got an order for a single Interceptor windscreen and he used my car as the template.

With way the dollar is it's probably much cheaper to import these days anyway.

The current situation doesn't bode well for the rest of us if we bust our windscreen by ourselves and then have no dealer's car to drive during the downtime.

You got a point! It could happen to any one at any time, like a small stone hitting the windscreen while driving on freeway, or it could be a thief that smash your windscreen trying to steal something.....etc. Most of it is not covered by insurance and certainly you won't have a dealer's car to drive!

Maybe once I got my car back I should ask if any of the local manufacturer can make the windscreen here!

I got my Superb back yesterday. All working now (touch wood).

The only thing I would complain is that they cleaned my car (I suppose they have to after changing the windscreen), and that lovely new car smell is gone! All I can smell is detergent....

Anyone has any idea how we can get the new car smell back?

And it broke again in 2 days.... This time, the reverse camera. Again it's not Skoda's fault, as it's a third party camera, and it may well just be a software issue.

"stop defending Skoda", my friend says.
"that's it! No more Skoda!" my wife says.

        Very bad publicity.....

You aren't having much luck with your new car mate, I hope it turns around soon and you enjoy the car as much as I'm enjoying mine!

If the dealer is paying for the windscreen, I'd rather wait 2 weeks for an original windscreen than get a local or non genuine screen.

            Genuine is much better quality.

I suggest Superb owners take out windscreen replacement insurance while you can't source non-genuine glass.

However it is very concerning it takes 2 weeks to get a windscreen.

I've had much better luck reliability with Jap cars, unfortunately there's nothing they offer that interest me.

According to the dealer, Skoda Aus did have some in stock in the country. But for some reason there was a huge demand at the end of last year so it ran out of stock. Was there some hale storm or something that cracked a whole bunch of Superb's windscreen?

Also it only took 2 weeks because dealer broke the windscreen and they had to registered a bran new stock car as my courtesy car. The longer it takes for windscreen to arrive, the more the demo depreciates. They flew the windscreen from Czech republic. So if you and I break it, they won't fly it in. So it might take 3-6months. Very very concerning!

Yeah. So far all the problems have been the options, mechanically the car has no problem. If I simply had the car as it is, then I would've enjoyed as much as yours.

BTW, you got KESSY as well haven't you?

I think like bluetooth, the MDIs and really Sat naV, Kessy is something that gets abused as an option. Lots of cheaper cars have it standard, I got it standard in my Santa Fe and yeah its handy but not worth paying extra for really.

Yeah I've got KESSY as well, the only 2 options I got were KESSY and MDI. I'm getting a tune done tonight, let's hope that doesn't screw anything up!

                    Updates!

For some bizarre reason, the camera came back alive by itself! So had to be software issue.

Dealer seem to think I must've switched it off somehow. But they'll check with the technician who install it. Anyway, happy that my car doesn't have to be hospitalized.

It's something that plagues European cars. In a way it makes them more "prestigious" as you get to "design" your own car by choosing the options. For me KESSY was not essential, it was more that fact that I had to wait 6 months anyway, and it only costs $690, so I wanted something more unique rather than something same as a stock car. I was gonna get the park assist as well (to show off), but after reading reviews that it is notoriously known to scratch alloy wheels, I saved myself $1000.

If I had known this would happen I wonldnt have order the KESSY either.

Park assist lines itself up with the car in front and behind. It doesn't take the kerb into account. Driver should be watching for how close the car comes to the kerb, if the front or rear cars are too close then you should be concered. Drivers fault for kerb wheel, not the technology.

Just my 2c. And I can reverse and perpendicular park a car just fine.

Kinda glad when reading this thread that kessy isn't available with the passat as an option seeing these faults.

Tap, the reason that I decided to not take park assist. In Briskoda forum, many people have commented it being notoriously known to be alloy wheel scratches. So saved myself $990!

                          My Superp is superb BUT...
On top of my water leak issue (see other post) I now have strange noises coming from dash as climate control sets itself each start up. Its as if the flaps are sticking or fouling and it takes a few "flap flap flaps" to position itself. Noisy and embarrasing when showing off new car! Any body experience same? Any ideas?
