Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • XDS differential settings

I know there are 3 settings to the XDS differential on the vRS mk3, anyone had a play with this?

I played with them on my Mk6 GTI, changed it to the same setting they use on Scirocco R (didnt notice any difference though - street driving only....might be noticeable on the track).

Cheers. So how did you guys access the setting. I assume it's done in service mode? Also interested in how the car behaves between the settings on the road..

I switched to 'Strong' a couple of weeks ago. At the moment I can't say I like it. Maybe it's my imagination but when giving it 50% throttle on a 2nd or 3rd gear corner if feels like the car is hitting a brick wall. AFAIK the XDS works by grabbing the inside brake, and that's what I'm noticing. It does seem to guide the car round the corner better, it just feels restrained.

Yea I thought that might be the case with the non - diff cars (RS220/162), the RS230 feels nice with the diff, but the T/C light comes on when pushed, but that might be a tyre problem (Grip)

I have it set to weak via ODBeleven on the 220/162 DGS. I found for normal driving it was better on normal but when giving it some, I felt the XDS interfered. Like someone else said, kinda like hitting a wall as if the increased throttle application was being ignored, also, and I can't back this up, but off the line with a JB1 installed & TC off there was some sort of intervention still happening which seems less on the weak XDS setting and less wheel tramp. All subjective and possibly in my head.

Thats the starting vibration settings, I havent done it myself, but a couple of people have adjusted it, just watch out for torque steer and gear changes....

                        You on skodamodderz on facebook?
