I'm pretty sure this has been confirmed for Oz cars. Don't forget that MY17 RS230 has a different rear exhaust system with a meatier note, I'd say that the MY18 RS245 will carry this point of difference forward as well.
Yes, you're right! Sorry - duh!
RS245 is apparently getting the new 7spd wet clutch gearbox that is slowly trickling down into the rest of the VAG range!
And yes, the centre muffler in the RS230 was a smaller unit than the same one in the RS162 - so expect that to be similar also.

(The RS230 also gets the Comfort Pack (minus heated seats) as standard and has embroidered logos on the seats as opposed to pressed leather - but who knows what the 245 will get)

        Slightly off-topic:

Did some research on TSR - given the quality of road signs here in Australia it doesn't seemed to be working well for those who had it enabled hence I decided to give it a pass.

Since enabled the following over the weekend via the OBDeleven (a must have toy to compliment any Skoda/VW, I cleared the Blind Spot Monitoring + Rear Cross Traffic Alert error over last weekend, saved me a trip to the dealership! Yes it's a brand new car but the error popped up on week 3 of ownership!)

        - Trunk Closing with Remote Control
        - Fan Speed Shown on Auto mode

        Upcoming (this weekend):
        - Comfort Blink Cycle (to 5 instead of 3 by default)
        - High Beam Assist
        - High Beam with Fog Light
        - Car Lock Acknowledgement with Honk
        - Dynamic Brake Light
        - Rain Closing

Emailed the dealer I test drove the 169 at last weekend asking him for info, availability, pics and pricing on the RS230.
Haven't heard anything back as yet so we'll see how that goes (not sure if the one listed on carsales is at the same dealership, but considering there's only 2 in Perth and that one is supposedly within 20kms from me I'd expect it should be the same one). Not a fan of the fact there's only 2 dealers in Perth though, I mean it doesn't give you much options if the dealership ends up being average with their customer service or not willing to negotiate or assist much etc.

Otherwise I think I read somewhere that when the RS245 was announced back in Feb?, they had an expected release date to be approx Nov this year, so only a month or so away and we might get some more info on pricing/availability etc.

So I neverheard back from the local dealership (are they interested in selling cars or?).I made an online enquiry with the dealership that’s further away from me andthey at least came back the following day to discuss.
They confirmedI’d be hard pressed to find the RS230 anywhere now since it was limited. Hewasn’t sure if the RS245 is coming with an LSD or not and said he wasn’t surewhen these were being released in Aus or what pricing would be like yet.

There’s been afew reviews/news articles online that seem to suggest the RS245 is coming toAus in November, so I’m tempted to hold out (as much as I’d like to have an RSnow/sooner) until then but would’ve thought maybe we could start seeing somemore upto date info on pricing/release dates etc so people could startpre-ordering possibly. Whilst the RS169 is a great car itself, if there’spotential of a slightly better model coming out within a month or two, I’drather wait to see what that’s all about before committing to the RS169.

I saw last night a black RS230 is still up on carsales, so I filled in the infoon there to get a call/email back. Haven’t heard back on that one yet either(but it appears that enquiry was being sent to the first dealership I tried, soI probably wont hear anything anyway).

I went thru 2 dealerships before get a 'good' one.... I know, how hard is it, oh an email, Ill ring him while hes on the 'hook'....
There are 230s around mate, a few on Car Sales, they just trying to Push new stock....
Dealer not know about the spec or tech of the cars is normal, I knew more about the 230 than all the dealerships when I was trying to put a deposit down... (They are all useless mate....)

Jump on the 'AuSkoda' Facebook page and say you are looking for a 230 or 245 or 169, a few dealers on there that are helpful.

Definitely a shame. I've only got the 2 dealerships here in WA. One seems okay so far, (the one that's approx 1-1.5hr away) at least they've given me a call (may have had another call yesterday from them, but no voicemail left and I was too busy at work).
I can see there's some 230 sedan's about, but I'm chasing the wagon and I've only seen one of those show up and haven't heard back from the enquiry I made on that yet and when I was at the dealership test driving the 169, he didn't seem to say much about the 230 when I asked about them. (If he had one I would've expected he'd show the customer etc, but going by the fact the guy has yet to call or even reply to my email I sent a week or so ago, maybe not?).

Ah wagon will be a bit harder in 230....
Yea it is a real shame the dealers a hopeless.
TBH, the dealer prob knows nothing about the 230s, and they Should know the 230 & 245 has the LSD....
I know they have a few models and specs, but they should know about a 50K car, which is the sportiest car they sell etc...

Yeah my thoughts exactly. If I was selling it I'd make sure I was aware of the differences between the premier model of the group and the rest, I'm sure it's a common question 'What's the difference between this and that'.
Someone on AuSkoda seems to be interested in answering questions I have etc, he's in a dealership in NSW from what I've gathered.

The downsides for me there is that I can't exactly test drive the car just 1 more time before making a decision (not unless I want to fly over there, which isn't really worth it for a test drive), I also can't easily trade in my current vehicle, not unless transport costs are absorbed into it all for getting my new car to me and taking the existing away back over east.
Wouldn't really want to drive that. Whilst it'd be nice as a road trip, doing it in a brand new car across the orange hell between NSW and WA, no thanks.

Many, many Thanks wingzee, golfage, Misticality & puhleese. Your contributions have been most informative. Guess I got ahead of myself re test driving as son-in-law has been offered a week-end test of an S4 Audi!!!!

So, with a new battery, I can ramp up the sale of our 2004 MkIV Golf R32 with all of 26,000kms & start the ring-around & haggling
