just wondering if anyones used the RE003 on their Octavia RS? I've look online and Bridgestone have come back with a quote of $681 for 4 fitted which seems great, I've looked at contisport 5 and michelin SP3's and they will all come in more expensive but would they be better options? They seem to be the 2 most popular around the forum.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Never heard of the Michelin SP3
Conti 5 and Michelin PS4 will be comparable with the RE003. But many reviews may say the PS4 > RE003. I have the PS4s on my car and it too seems to be an excellent tyre but only a week old and not yet scrubbed in (so no personal review from me). These have a better treadwear rating of 320.RS

I'm running RE003's on my daily and can't fault them. I bought them on 4 for 3 and even though the tyre shop claimed I'd get 50,000km from the set if I got 35,000 I'd still be pretty happy for the price.
Previously ran Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 2's which are a good tyre and get reasonable wear (40,000km) with some moderately spirited driving on occasions.

Hi Aztech,
I noticed you are in AH! Thats close to me, I am in Springfield Lakes.
Anyway, perhaps have a chat to my friend Daniel Dorn Bosman Tyres in Archerfield. Dan usually has some good deals on a variety of different tyres. Kumho was running a similar deal when I got my tyres for the Evo and he was really good.

Bosman Tyres
Ended up getting them fitted today at Bridgestone in Albion as its right next to work I could drop it off at lunch and was ready by knock off. Quick spin down the Centenary Hwy and so far very happy with them. I was surprised by the extra service they offer, free replacement if you damage one under 10% tread used, free tyre rotations etc.
The guy claimed I'd get between 40-50,000 on them depending on how I drive, so around 40,000 most likely lol

Not on my octavia, but I had them on my polo gti and loved them. I got them for $220 each just after they where released. I had re002 on my Subaru which where good if a little noisy but the re003 where quiet compared to the 2 and a big improvement. I didn't notice a big difference from wet to dry conditions up to 3/4 throttle.

Also half the cabin volume, really quiet and feel smoother over small bumps, very impressed with them so far.

I'm in the unique position of having replaced my two (rooted) front Michelin PS3's with two Michelin PS4's, so I've got one set on each axle.
The PS3's are good, the PS4's are great! A little quieter and the handling and ride feels more direct.
Also they don't kick and scream when I put my big diesel foot down.2012 Octavia vRS TDI. Darkside big turbo, 3bar tune, other stuff. 200kW/650Nm.
