Slightly off topic, but I want to paint the exhaust tips on my car a dark colour. I just prefer them to stand out less and blend in with the underbody of the car. So my question is: Are the tips welded on on to the pipe or can they be easily removed? Also, what would be involved in painting them - anyone done this before? I don't want them flaking.

Use a VHT hi temp paint and you should be sweet.
If I end up changing my rear mufflers I will go with a different tip style / outlay

Do be honest, I'm not too sure, may need some sort of primer?
Tips won't get that hot compared to rest of exhaust system so as long as they are clean, and applied in light coats should be ok

Have CTS DP and non-res Scorpion catback. Quite loud but its okay with me. When the revs are high the dsg farts are very loud, sound like explosions. Have been told flames shoot out when WOT. Have no recordings because can't be bothered. I had a hotdog insert put in for free but it still wasn't enough for me. Stock exhaust is way too quiet.

Embrace the Skoda tagline of “Simply Clever” and make the clever decision to fit your Skoda with a premium Scorpion performance Exhaust.
I believe it's a British company.
There are few offering from Europe; Remus, Fox, Bull-X, Supersprint to name a few.2011 Tiguan 125TSI - SOLD

Will be getting CTS down pipe from VW central (Melbourne) best pricing $979.00 to my door in Brisbane
Don't bother trying to get any info out of exotic cars in Sydney - what a joke, emails, messages and finally a phone call with a promise to come back
Won't be wasting any more time with them!

I guess being local helps.

If I changed the exhaust I'd prob just do a resonator delete but with a helmhotz resonator tube on it. As below:
BCS Center Silencer Delete Pipe With Drone Delete Tube - GOLFMK7 - VW GTI MKVII Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVII Forum
You could definitely get this made locally if you desired as it is all just tube and nothing special added, just the dimensions of the extra tube are important. The air inside the tube acts as a spring to dampen certain vibrations, which are tuned to each engine type. If I was so inclined I'd start a business getting such items made in China or similar.Last edited by ThatGuy; 07-03-2017, 12:34 PM.2015 Octavia VRS wagon - Manual
