Dash rattle

Hi all,
Been meaning to ask for a while. Do any of you experience and in cabin rattle under any load? Light acceleration, heavy acceleration it doesn't matter.
It sounds like it's coming from inside the dual air vents....

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the sound actuator itself causing the vibration/rattle.
It's starting to really bug me and only way to not hear it is listening to music.

Probably the soundactor device as you have mentioned. My friends Golf R had a similar rattle and we disconnected the soundactor to see if it had any effect and the rattle went away.

Worth a try anyway....only takes 10 mins to disconnect.

Yes I get it when letting the clutch out on a hill and seems to come from around where you described...

The soundaktor level can easily be reduced using VCDS, I've dropped mine to 50% and is way less intrusive and annoying.
I think you can also set its level through the custom driving mode setting (ie the 'VRS' button), I think woofy did this with some success.

I have an annoying rattle, seems to come from in the glovebox, where the c.d. player is. Only hear it when the radio is turned off.

We have a rattle between 2000-2500 rpm that you can mainly hear on the drivers side. Somewhat intermittent and it doesn't seem to matter too much if its in normal and sport. It is annoying, because everything else in the car is so quiet.

I have a squeak that comes form the glove box. pushing of the glove box door fixes it, but not practical. Have tried felt spaces to make the closing tighter etc, but to no avail.

It annoys the hell out of me, but radio on drowns it out.

Rattles from around the centre air vent seems common on the latest Octavia. Mine has it ans isn't fitted with soundaktor. Anyone found the source and know of a fix?

Check the inside rear view mirror and the rain sensor housing behind it guys. Just hold them down as you are accelerating and see if the rattle stops. They turned out to be the culprits in my car after I suspected the dash for a long time. Also check the sunglass holder.

I have the same rattle coming from what sounds like the drivers side air vent. Mine can be heard when lugging the engine at the rpm range you described as well as rough roads...it's a buzzing/rattling sound which can't be stopped by pressing on anything in that area, well annoying! Did you find a solution to yours?

If you have an OBD11 you can run a sound actuator diagnostic that may help determine where the rattle is coming form or whether it is caused by the actuator itself. It runs a test tone up and down through the frequency range it works in and you will be able to quickly distinguish if a part of the trim has a resonate frequency that's causing the rattle. I'm guessing that is what the function is there for, helping service team find rattles. If you take it back, they may just stuff some wadding in behind the glovebox. Sometimes the sound actuator themselves aren't seated properly in their mounting position. I remember a lot of people had the same issue with the 6R Polo Gti. The sound actuator mounted on the firewall in the engine bay (under the windscreen-wiper /cabin air intake plastic cover) just needed to be removed and clicked into place properly and the rattle was gone. I'd hazard to guess that they didn't reinvent the wheel with the placement for the Skoda and it is probably is in the same spot.

The other fix I saw on other car of the same model was wadding stuffed in behind the glovebox, I thought it was a bit 'ad-hoc' until I pulled it out and found a VW part number sticker on the wadding..... Sometimes the simplest fixes are the best.

+1 to that, centre speaker was my culprit. Asked the dealer to fix it for me at the service. Apparently some extra foam was used to remove the vibration.

I found if you put the soundtackor to eco is fine, I have now OBDeleven'ed it to 0%.
