    2016 Skoda Octavia Ambition 110TSI Auto MY16 -

Seems like a bunch of features now included as standard (at least as per the base level 'Ambition' model). Adaptive Cruise, rear camera, parking sensors just to name a few.

I don't think it's my 16.5 as much as Skoda are trying to increase the value of their cars locally by including more standard. I'm curious at which point my dealer knew this and deliberately didn't tell me. My car was the only one built and sent here in late Jan and the rest held off for a week or so. It was already delayed 3 wks for an unspecified reason.

Late January? I highly doubt they knew at that point - and even if they did, they're not going to tell you to wait for 5 months for an updated model.

The adverts above refer to the vehicles being a "MY16 update", so read into that whatever you will. They've basically included the travel pack as standard, plus a few other tweaks.

They typically put through any local variations, although this time there is no offical 16.5, whereas the factory put through 15.5 last year. Its not typical though. They pretty much always put through these local changes as of the beginning of the new year. However they are all marketing as these options were always available so I would hedge a bet because my car was effectively already sold they didn't bother changing the order before it got locked down. So far mine is the only car built this year that doesn't have it. Does raise some questions for me. It was really odd that mine was the only Octavia that came in the shipment as well after the strange delay, makes me think they held off to get these added to the rest of the orders.

The Jarvis on-road price is pretty sharp, including a 5 year warranty.
I am a bit suspicious of some the new radar technology. The way it can be affected by littered aluminised chip packs and extra costs in a front end repairs.
know it should not happen but tell that to the idiot who smashed into the front of a parked car at the local shopping mall.

Personally I love the Adaptive Cruise control, useful in slow traffic as well as doing the speed limit down a freeway. Uses less fuel than when I drive old fashioned style too lol.

Nah mate - there's plenty of 2016 models around without these added options. The updated models (with new options standard) have only just landed in the country - I had a chat to one of the dealers and asked him right up. He said the first shipment only landed this month carrying updated models. So if you ordered back in January, there's no way they ripped you off. There were months to go before the new models rolled off the factory. Ship takes about a month to get here from Germany, so May would have the dispatch date from factory.

I actually ordered back in Aug, the order got on the list in Nov and the build happened in mid Jan. However cars that came about 2wks so far after mine seem to have the lane assist so hard to say.

Ah well. In a few months the MY17 models will hit the streets, then all the MY16 update people will be upset they didn't wait. Until the MY17 update and so on.

Yep always aware of when each MY starts, they start production of them pretty much now actually. I've had years of analysis. Just miffed as I specifically had the dealer put the build in the new year in case they threw in the lane assistant and told them to let me know if it became part of the tech pack as it was obvious it was going to appear with the Scout getting it. Good value for the Ambitions though, didn't see all that stuff coming.

Really would like to see a software update for wireless carplay, it is severely gimped having to plug in the cable all the time.

Ha!, the circle of VAG life. too true.
Do I wait until December when I actually need a new RS wagon to see if an MY17 appears or take the '16.5' on order due in a few weeks with lane assist?
Wireless Carplay would be nice, 'Traffic Assist' would be better, adaptive dampeners would be definate.

For now the only decision is to 19" or not to 19".
Will the softer Pirelli's compensate for less sidewall to keep the ride the same as the 18"'s, that is the question.

Note this warranty is their own warranty and is only valid if they do all of the servicing and is non transferable. I got caught as I specifically asked for the extended warranty expecting the factory one, and at order placement they had it as no charge so I thought they were absorbing the cost to keep my business, only to discover on collection that was not the case, so contacted skoda and as the car had already been registered in my name they wouldn't add it even though I offered to pay.

                            MY 17 changes

The MY17 has been released in Europe.

                            An idea of the changes

                            The biggies

In the new 2017 model year, ŠKODA is offering adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) for the ŠKODA OCTAVIAs with engines of a power output starting from 110 kW (150 PS). This provides a more varied driving experience – DCC makes it possible to adapt the steering and suspension depending on whether the Comfort, Normal and Sport mode has been selected. DCC is also available in the ŠKODA OCTAVIA RS and ŠKODA OCTAVIA RS 230, where its functions include a more comfortable set-up for everyday driving at the push of a button.

                            and

With new features, the infotainment system becomes even more extensive in the 2017 models. The optional ŠKODA Phonebox with wireless charging connects a smartphone to the car antenna by near-field coupling without the need for a cable, thus offering high call quality and best data reception. At the same time, it charges the smartphone inductively in accordance with the Qi standard, provided that the phone is technically compatible.

                              Very good point.
But other than the dependence on Jarvis servicing would the extended cover be any worse than the 'official' Skoda warranty?
