Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • new 4 system for 2011 Scout Premium

Thread title is meant to read NEW AUDIO SYSTEM for 2011 Scout Premium. Not sure how the 4 snuck in.

Anyway, I've just bought a 2011 Scout Premium TDI with ridiculously low kms. It's got the Columbus infotainment unit and I'm wondering about installing a more contemporary system - mainly with better Bluetooth interface. I'm selling a 2014 Golf and love its Bluetooth system for playing music from my iPhone. I guess the 'new' Apple Carplay feature would be good, although the 2014 didn't have that. Don't need high end audio or more speakers or better nat sav. Anyone know if the new VW systems can transport to a 2011 Skoda?
    Cheers
    Alan

No, you can't install thD new MIB units into previous generation platforms, at least at this point nobody worldwide has been able to get them fully functional. Debatable as to whether this will remain the case.

As for the bluetooth functionality, you can easily add this by installing a 9w7 factory unit to complement your Columbus unit.

Need VCDS to do the coding but otherwise a fairly simple installation.
