  • RS Octavia DSG MY11 Clock Spring Control Unit Slip Ring

    Hi,

    Hope someone can help
I have the airbag light on and the steering controls dont work.
I had it scanned and they said it was the clockspring, but quoted me $1500 to fix!!!

I pulled the wheel off and the part number is 5KO953569B so im trying to find out which variant I can buy

Ross tech has the list of modules Steering Wheel Control Module Versions - Ross-Tech Wiki
    Part Number 5K0-953-569

    • MFD = Multi Function Display / Board Computer
    • CCS = Cruise Control System
    • ACC = Adaptive Cruise Control
    • MFSW = Multi-Function Steering Wheel
    • AT = Automatic Transmission (Ignition Key Lock)

From looking at this I need the highline with 'yes' in all columns. So it would be the 'B' which is the same or 'H' or 'T'

    I found the 'H' here www.skodateile.cz

'T' here VW CC Passat B7 CC 3C tempomat elektronische modul 5K0953569T 5K0 953 569 T in neue vw oemHighline elektronischen baugruppen( Schlupf Ring) passat b6 b7 cc  Teile-nummer:5k0953569t aus auf AliExpress.com | Alibaba Group

Can anyone shed some light on which version I can buy that will work?
    And
Any other suggestions of where to buy it from?

    Thanks

Clock springs were an issues in a number of cars due to dodgy airbags (separate to the Japanese issue of shrapnel in the face) I know lots of Hyundais had it with their supplier. Haven't heard of if in VAG cars. Might be worth checking it's not a known problem about to be recalled. Certainly I'd be gunning for it to be covered under good will as an airbag woukd be expected to last at least 10yrs.

I reckon there is enough of a lawsuit waiting there that they should cover it under goodwill.

For anyone looking for further information on this

Original part number was 5K0 953 569 B . I bought a 5K0-953-569-AL from ebay. It came from a russian seller for about $275 AUD shipped to Adelaide.
Also bought a Micro CAN cable from Ross tech to code the new module, which I will be selling soon.
All good - steering wheel controls work again and I cleared the airbag fault and now the airbag light is clear too. Happy days.
