  • VCDS Tweak Help in Sydney

    Hi All,

Picked up my MY16 RS on Monday and am absolutely loving it, have been pouring through the manual and realising that a lot of cool stuff is disabled out of the Factory and have read here that its possible to use "VCDS" to enable some quality of life things like rain sensing window close, dimming DRLS on turns.

I have looked at BriSkoda's forums and tried to make sense of how it all works but im still pretty clueless as to where i start (apart from potentially spending ~500 on a Ross-Tech cable).

Hoping someone here to could explain the basics on how it all works and if its something i should invest in or should i just live with the car as is (hardly a problem).

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Cheers
    Dan

Not even sure if rain closing is possible with newer bcms. I know it's not possible on b7 Passat etc due to changes.

I think you are correct, on further investigation it appears that Rain Sensing close isn't possible on the MY16 models, doh.

Anyone know if the changes made via VCDS are reverted when you flash a tune on / off the car? I have a bluefin handset from my previous car and was thinking of getting the RS tune as it supposedly added 94nm of torque, Yum!

On my last car every time i added/removed the tune it reset everything back to factory default.

ECU flash isnt related to changes via VCDS

also, your 'old' bluefin wont work on the newer ECUs.

Hmm yeah good point, the bluefin handset is only 2 years old and the guys at Tigersoft haven't mentioned that it wont work, but yeah will check that its compatible before dropping coin.

I wonder why they don't have the rain close mode anymore. To be honest I don't leave any windows open for years now, and I used to leave the sunroof tilted but found that gust of wind or just wind in general would set off the interior alarm so stopped doing that as well. Only one time I used it and it worked fine, I was coming back to the car to close them when some small drops came and it had already closed the sunroof from the tilted position.

It's probably possible, just that someone needs to figure out the correct coding of all the modules. I've tried all known combinations with the current bcms and whilst the coding is accepted the function doesn't actually work.
