And after trying with Heathpete's link, yes it does download and extract the mew map files, but still no luck installing. The only conclusion is that they are encrypted to the car.....

Ah it might link the download to the VIN. I was under the impression map downloads have updates for at least 3 yrs now. Maybe they should do what Hyundai do and include map updates each year you service at the dealer.

Perhaps the VIN is the key. When I plugged the usb in it just happily upgraded all by itself so it's definitely nothing special that I did!

I didn't actually ask when I put my order in about the map updates as others here reckoned they give you 3 yrs but doesn't look like that is the case.

Update, I had my Octavia in for a service at a Dealer today and asked for the maps to be updated. when picking out the car i was told that there are no updates available for my car, which has the 2014 maps, yet i was driving a loan car with 2015 maps and we all know from on here that there are 2016 maps available. The Service girl was quite surprised when I informed her of this, but could only reiterate the party line.

And guess what, they can't make the Traffic Alerts work, even with the instructions being supplied.

Well she was technically correct, it sounds like there are no update subscriptions active on any cars here at the moment. I will check with my order to see what the go is.

I've got the salesguy for my car looking into this with his manager. As it seems its dealer dependent, some may be updating them in predelivery. Certainly there isn't a clear answer but I would think as long as you have warranty and get it serviced by the dealer they should update the maps ala most other makes as a loyalty thing.

My map shows version 2015/2016 ROW. However, i not the download map shows Q1.15. Has anyone successfully downloaded the map (i tried all weekend and got as far as 15G when it crapped out) and can you confirm the version shown through Columbus?
I cant get to a dealer to do this but want to keep trying to download if the map is later than what i have.

2015/2016 ROW is the newest one from what I understand. Be careful if the one you download is older than the one installed by the dealer at delivery, it may install the older one and not let you "update" back to where you currently are. From the Update Portal, mine shows 2014 ROW, yet i have downloaded 2015/2016 and it won't install.

the latest maps are available but appear to be encrypted to the car VIM, hence an older VIN like mine cannot install newer maps. The portal gives the option to extend the subscription but directs you to the CZ site which is no good, as we cannot read it and there are no English options to even navigate it.

I'm still waiting to hear back from the dealer about this, and whether my has actually been built like it was supposed to be. The build week has slipped already from when it was locked in Oct.

My car was built last week so as fresh as you can get. Got the VIN today and put it in. I'm seeing Maps as 2016 ROW with a note that another update will coming in the maps in May. Only other update is a small file for bluetooth which it says is only for cars built early 2015. Hoping we see a software update for the unit itself to allow bluetooth Carplay as that is well overdue.

What's the best place to get a decent speed and quality SD card?
