Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Oh Eastside are pretty new. I almost bought there as I live nearby. Zagame are the biggest Vic dealer they aren't going anywhere. What they are doing is moving to bigger premises. I bought my first one there but think Eastside may have done a better deal.

Don't you love when a company has no clue what's going on with its own products and services, as if no one ever asked how customers in Australia might go about updating their maps (notwithstanding the MY16).

The only reason I got my car through Eastside was because that was really the only available one with the options I wanted without a 3 month wait. I actually wanted a white one too but that was going to be an even longer wait. I wouldn't recommend Eastside as I thought there customer service was ordinary at best.

I had a pretty ordinary experience there on two occasions and then randomly stopped by mid year and talked to the Manager directly who seemed much better than the rest of the staff. I ended up ordering through Richmond again as they became more proactive and so far have done everything I wanted. I had some issues with our current one that it probably helped reminding them we had another on order as well. Servicing would certainly be more convenient at Eastside as they are so close to home, but Richmond aren't far from my office, and I suspect they will move out this way a little more. They can't go too far as their sales region is defined and includes the CBD.

            Its a sorry tale...
We had our Octavia 30K service this week bought in 2014 with ROW2013 maps. Have been trying since day1 to get maps updated. Been told numerous times that no updates are available (this is probably correct due to VIN lookup but is patently wrong - bad systems/config). The dealers know very little on how to update - the problem lies with Skoda - The latest from the dealer was call back in a couple of weeks as Skoda is sending out a an update. Hard not to cynical...

If you have a look about elsewhere on this site people with Golfs are also having this issue, how can it be to sort out? The common denominator seems to be VWA are clueless.

exactly they have no idea, sent a screen shot off to Skoda / VWA customer care and this was the response

                "Hi Terry,

I know the online updates for our market are in the pipeline, unsure as to whether they have officially been released as yet

I will find out and come back to you

Reading through this thread, am I correct in assuming that people with MY16 cars have been able to do map upgrades?

That Kirsten Bradbury mentioned above was actually really helpful when I needed help resolving an ongoing warranty issue. Fingers crossed so,e info will be forthcoming in the not too distant future.

Early April is when we might get further info on map update, apparently Portal not meant for Australian market.

                      Thanks to poster on WP:

Yeah the dealer for my incoming car has said a few times that the portal is euro only.

Strange. The existing portal worked for mine. Picked up my new MY16 in November 2015 and used my VIN to download and install ROW2016 map update.

Seems like 2016 works but anything before then it doesn't?

Installed the ROW2016 map on my Octavia Scout 135TDI MY16. Bought the car last week - a demo with 55 kms. It came with the ROW2015-2016 map. After many hours to download the 20gb file it only took about 1/2 hr to install in the car.
