Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Seats uncomfortable are they

2008 Octavia RS wagon... Tfsi 200bhp. Loving the new-er ride. Had it for about a month now... Not a fan of the seats. Looking to replace front and back with something more comfortable. I don't need nor want racing seats, just something more comfortable... That's all. Electrical connection is there as they are heated. Don't necessarily need or want electric seats, just something more comfortable. So who's got comfy seats? It'll take seats from Audi and VW. Second hand is fine. Who's got comfy seats?

When you say uncomfortable, what about then do you find uncomfortable? Euros normally have quite firm seats compared to jap/Korean/Aussie car's.

Does the pre fl mk2 have the same seats as the fl mk2? I thought the seats were quite good. Supportive and good for long distance.

I'm sure seats from another VAG car will fit though.

The bolstering is a bit cramped on my legs/bum and I am by no means a big guy. 5'11" 72kg. The headrest protrudes forward quite a bit which is not nice on long drives. I know it's got the RS badge but not everyone is a racer. Thinking something more ergonomic from VW or Audi

Many of the headrests are like that now a days, to help prevent whiplash injury.

I drove an RS and the standard Octavia and preferred the seats in the standard car. The RS's are quite a bit firmer (hard maybe compared to the standard) however they are bolstered a bit more.

You do realise the headrests can be moved back? Just push them. Normal position is upright. Maybe yours were in the tilted forward position?

I'm sure you'd be able to find someone with a standard Octavia willing to change (problem is those horrible white patches the RS seats have).

Yep I was going say in the preFL the headrests move. They don't in the facelift RS as they became the WOKS type. The lower part of the seat can tend to stick into your legs depending on where they are. I'm 6'1 and it didn't bother me that much, I noticed it but not to annoyance.

              i'm comfortable in mine

if u wanted to swap em out, i'm sure u won't have any trouble getting donor seats from a vw or audi to fit. u might have to play around with airbag and heater connectors through.

back seats will b another ball game altogther with regards to size and shape!!

I have a set of Audi S3 seats in mine. I've been thinking about selling them as I can't sell my old fabric seats. They'd be less than $400 plus freight.
