  • Wheels for MKII

As I mentioned in my intro thread one of the first things I'd like to do is change the rims. Can anyone with any knowledge tell me if 19x8.5 ET43 would fit without any bother?

Martin and Dutch know their stuff when it comes to rims but from my experience 8.5 ET43 will probably poke on the fronts.

Rears should look close to spoke on me thinks.

A few of the guys have gone fairly wide. I had a quick search but can't find the threads.

You might also check with the Brits at Briskoda - a lot of them run aggressive fitments.

Make sure you can get tyres of sufficient load rating. On the R36 Passat it was hard to go to 19s because of the load rating.

Someone on here posted - also can't find it - that they were running 19x8.5 ET45 with no problem and I was wondering if the extra 2mm would make a difference.

I'll have more of a look on Briskoda, thanks.

Having spent a day and a half on less than ideal roads in the Otways I think I'll stick with 18s for now. I'd love the look, but we just don't get Autobahn quality over here.

Yep - but they do have a noticeable poke

not really, and they don't scrub - even after lowering the car
