$40 per unit local shipping is expensive. I used e-go.com.au couriers to ship two rearguards plus several door sill guards from Canberra to Perth as part of the group buy deMama organised and the total courier cost was $29.28. That included indemnity insurance up to $250 plus an additional $1.50 for redelivery cost if I wasn't home when they first attempted delivery. The cost without insurance would have been just over $11 and that's from Canberra to Perth. Very reasonable I thought and delivery took 6 calendar days.

I have no association with the company but do believe in recommending companies when they are inexpensive and efficient. deMama can confirm use of the company if you are suspicious.

I was the one who recommeded e-go.com.auIve used them heaps of times to send computer parts around australia. From monitors, cases to full systems. Never had an issue. Always delivered. Prices are very good. If you are near one of their depots you can save even more by dropping it off and picking it up from them.I am also not associated with them, but why not spread the love and let others know. =)

Thanks for the recommendation Reichter; as can be seen from my above post your earlier commendation proved very successful. deMama was conveniently located near the depot in Canberra, well it was located near her coffee dealer, and while there was a depot only a few kms from me I couldn't get there during normal business hours so took the home delivery option; it would have save only $1 from memory by also collecting from the depot.

I will certainly be using them in future.

Well, this freight company sounds alright.
I manage a furniture company import/export and wholesale, we freight to every Australian post code and ship to Africa Asia etc. we ship up to 50 items a day. We use a commercial online freight broker service called Temando that polls all freight companies, over 30, and delivers best price based on volume and dead weight, a bit like Webjet or hotels.com, for a particular consignment.
In my experience smaller freight companies can be cheaper, until something goes missing. Then you are in trouble. Two freight companies we have used in past 10 years have gone into liquidation.
As for $40 being expensive you are joking right? The cost of receiving, storing, handling and re-shipping has not come into your calculation.

E-go.com.au is owned by Hunter Transport Group. I dont know if they are a big or small freight company. I guess that is what insurance is for. Which i buy for expensive items being sent.

The thing I like about forums such as this is that people share information freely for the public benefit. You may accept or ignore the advice proferred but thanks to Reichter's recommendation there are two happy VW fans in Perth with rear guards parts shipped at very little cost.

About 5 years ago, we used to use Macarthur Freight. They had 700 employees. Then one day, the gates were locked. All employees were shut out. The company was in liquidation.
It turned out OK for us as we had a credit account with them, all our goods were eventually delivered. We never settled our account because the phones were down, the company had ceased trading, that was that, the liquidators wrote everything off and never put a claim on us. We were better off by about $4,000 of free freight. Not so good for the employees that were owed hundreds of thousands in entitlements. That is capitalism. Caveat emptor.

                          Hi All,
Sorry to hijack, but for those who love to protect their rear end. I've also found this that would compliment the rear guard as well.

Group buy - Rearguards from UK

Rearguards purchase mark II participants - OK we have everyone's details now, thanks all, and we have made contact with Rearguards UK, they responded promptly.
I'll put it all in a spreadsheet and email it to everyone first and double check the details.
Then we get the freight quote and parts quote, place the order, arrange the money transfers and I reckon we should all have our rearguards maybe 3 weeks from today, depending on the UK stock situation.
