Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Does Australia miss out?

    Hey guys,
I'm new to the site and may be looking at getting a 2015 RS Estate in the near future. I'm just wondering if the Australian delivered Skodas lack any equipment of say European Skodas in the packs that you can option for the car?

Like do we get 4 heated seats?
    Lane assist?
Heated side mirrors with downlights on the underside? Etc.

Another few questions if anyone can help me out please.
Is there any dampening adjust be it mechanial or electronic on the stock suspension?
Is the panoramic glass/sunroof roof lining like a see-through mesh or blacked out roof lining?
Does the wagon suffer from the "boom like low frequency" sound that the sedan seems to have?

I think that's all the questions I can think of for now lol. Any information will be much appreciated

    - Initial builds lacked features but now you can option things such as heated seats (front and back)
    - Auto dimming and folding mirrors with puddle lights are in Comfort Pack along with the heated seats and other things.
    - Lane assist may become available down the line.
    - Heated mirrors were standard from the get go, at least on the RS
    - No adjustable dampers on the RS (get coilovers if you want the adjustability)
    - GTR27 and MJKoolio will comment on the pano sunroof
    - No boom on my wagon, 10k in.

Its a great car and i'm sure you won't regret the purchase if you go ahead with it.

UK radios installed in Skodas get DAB+,
Do we get DAB+ reception option also?

Why would you want heated seats in Australia? Because you can I suppose, but always puzzles me why anyone thinks it desirable in our climate.

It is only temperate around the coast of Australia, when you get into the interior and especially the southern mountains, then the temperature often drops well below freezing in 'winter'.
Australia actually has a larger area of snowfields than Switzerland.

No, though I was under the impression digital radio was hit and miss in Australia??

I live in QLD and thought exactly the same as you but let me tell you I've used the heated seats on several occasions even in QLD.

Australia misses out on the ice-scraper in the fuel flap. This was a concern to at least one person - and they didn't live anywhere near a snowfield

The pano roof lining is a see-through mesh. IT does a great job of keeping out the summer sun, but it probably has about 20% opacity. I'll try take a pic next time I'm out and about.

The wagon doesn't have the "Boom" thankfully.. just road noise, which you could damp with some strategic use of dynamat in the spare tyre well and some of the side panels.

Actually my car came with the ice scraper. The sales person was doing the delivery walk through with me and didn't know what it was, so I had to explain it to him.. must've started coming standard recently. Mine's an MY15.

Random mistake by the ice-scraper person?

Perhaps a rather specific requirement but as a rather senior cycle racer who has to regularly start races in near freezing temperatures, nothing better for pumping heat into those old groin muscles driving to a race start.
                            (That's maybe too much information)😀
