Hi Guys,
Okay so I'm in the market for a second car that's better on juice than my stage 1 147TSI Tiguan.
I think I've narrowed it down to either the 1.8 petrol or the 2.0 diesel Octavia.
Any opinions on which one to go for? Do the official fuel figures come close to real world consumption? I'm thinking the 1.8 is probably more fun to drive but uses more fuel, but factoring in servicing would the diesels cost similar in the long run?
My Tiguan states 8.8 L/100k combined but even trying my best I sit at about 11. Highway driving from Sydney to Brisbane saw about 8.9 (pre-ECU upgrade) and that was on cruise control the whole way so I'm not very confident with VAGs official figures.
Also I wouldn't rule out the 2.0 petrol RS if the reduction in body weight over the Tiguan means much better fuel economy as I do love the engine, especially with a tune.
Thanks,
Aztech
