AFAIK only the MK3 TSI engines have 8 injectors. My (MK2 Octy RS) TSI has only 4.

That's how I figured it. I had 2 people that told me they did nothing but I got a proper kit for about half the new price. Couldn't go too wrong with that.

Did I ever post the borescope videos of my #2 & #3 inlets before & after chemical cleaning?

No. There seems to be lots of debate about it though. My experience was with an extremely carboned bike. When I started it after treatment, it blew almost a cup of carbon out the exhaust. It was really bad beforehand though

That's true. I think one of them has a remap & nothing else. The other has no mods & constantly worries about inlet carbon build-up.

Cheapy $20 borescope videos of Inlets 2 & 3 before & after a chemical clean.

cant 'see' your intake cleaner, therefore your videos are invalid

              kidding, that's a great outcome!

I made some type of magic mix for it - 500 water: 200 turps : 100 degreaser : 100 metho

I think this time I'll try 400 water : 200 turps : 100 degreaser : 200 kerosene : 100 petrol. The degreaser is mainly to get the water to emulsify with all the other solvents.

^ this is true. Only the Gen 3 version of the EA888 engine from 2014 onwards have 8 injectors.

Good result from the DIY clean Brad. I used the Nulon cleaner in my Mk6 GTI about a year ago when i first got it but haven't done a clean since. Might try your DIY concoction.

                      none taken

With things like this there's a leap of faith even after you've researched & pondered.

I've been faffing about with cleaners, etc for a long time. I first fitted water injection to an XT Falcon in 1982.

Hey brad, what's the missing 100ml from your first formulation (assuming the litre you mentioned in an earlier post)? Presumably you atomise the mixture somehow (eg with a spray bottle) when running it into the intake manifold?

I think it's missing the ability to do simple addition.

It's not an exact measuring process - I just throw in a bit of this & a bit of that & measure it by eye. I make Long Island Ice Tea the same way.

just a spray bottle either through the air temp sensor hole in the inlet manifold or dissconnect the MAF and come in throught the air inlet pipe before the turbo (so the mix goes through the turbo & the IC, etc). The former would concentrate mainly on the inlet valves, the latter would be cleaning everything & possibly less effective on the valves.
You can use one of these 2L units inverted (remove the internal pickup tube)

                            or a 5L

I have a service due next week so I'll probably do mine again this week. I think it's preferable to change the oil soon after carrying out a treatment.

Look up "revive turbo treatment" on youtube for some ideas.

Yes, always do this just before a service, so any dislodged items are cleaned out and don't start suspended in fluids.

Thanks brad. Looks like you've been rifling through my shed, I bought each of those exact same spray bottles for spraying sealant onto my new concrete pavers! Great that I can press them into a new role. Now to take that leap of faith...
