I know that the Rearguard ones do provide additional protection on the edge of the lip. But I'm not too rough on my cars so I think this should do me ok...

Last time i checked..insurance companies only cover you for legal mods. So if you have an illegal mod...they may deny you when it comes to making a claim. Wheel spacers on a road car that isnt OEM is considered an illegal mod. I could be wrong, and happy to be corrected. But i wouldnt risk it. Or get it in black and white from your insurance company.MY15 VW Golf R | White | Manual

It shouldn't affect the wheel bearings unless you go quite thick (more than 10mm) as there are other factory wheels which move the centreline of the wheel further outwards.
Skoda won't see it this way so they will void your warranty on any of the parts in that area (not just the bearings).
You are better off either going to a 235/40r18 tyre or buying a set of lightweight rims in the offset you want.
I have run spacers on other cars. I didn't have any issues. There are plenty of cars out there that run spacers without issue. Ideally if you could attach the spacer to the wheel and there wasn't a hub step nobody would ever know.carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic

I finally got around to fitting the Audi S3 seats i bought several months back.
The airbag connectors needed to be swapped over as the Audi & Skoda are slightly different. The colour coding of the wires is the same & it appears the expected resistance is the same as there is no airbag fault.
I still have to run power to the electric lumbar support but that's no big deal.
Blends in reasonably well with the rears. Much better bolstering.
