What will you buy when your Octavia doesn't arrive?

I personally wouldn't buy the Mondeo, it's a 8yo model that was replaced o/s a year ago. It has been waiting for replacement for a while. It does drive well though, but power shift seems to have more issues than vw dsg's!

It's still the old model? Bugger that then. My wife had the diesel Platinum & it was nice back then but maybe not so much now.

Yeah unfortunately. My mates 07 xr5 Mondeo is pretty much the same as a 2014 Mondeo. Except they don't get that awesome Volvo 5 pot engine any more.

It is a good car, but unless you get a bargain, not work getting a model about to be replaced. New model looks awesome, like a baby Aston

One of my mates up North recently bought a 2nd hand Mondeo turbo and it was a bit of a bargain. Worth looking at if you want a 2nd hand alternative to the Octavia just to keep for a few years.

Another mate has just been to Hawaii & drove the new model (Ford Fusion in USA or is this the next size up) & he was very impressed even though it was base spec. I assume these will be the Falcon replacement when local manufacture ceases.

The other alternative worth driving (don't look at it) is the Subaru.

The styling isn't to my taste but they are well built & reliable & very competant.

There was a NSW registered Blue Octy RS wagon in the forum classifieds a few weeks back. It would tick all your boxes I think and still had 2 years factory warranty remaining. They wanted $~19k IIRC but assume they were open to negotiate. You could run it for 2 years and sell for $13k and it would be cheap motoring. MAybe it's still available?

There's a few MK2 90tsi with DSG for around $18k - I'm sure there's some wiggle room there.

This one looks well appointed but he's trying to make out his 2012 vehicle is a 2013 (when he bought it). I think his price is ambitious.

Hmmmm. Once it's on the boat, I reckon 8 weeks minimum till it's in your hands. The journey isn't that bad, but Patrick's **** around for ages with compliance. Mine was unloaded 12/11 and it was complied in December.....

Don't worry, go back through my posts and see the optimism rise as it got built early and shipped quick. Then that deflation at the end, with a swift kick to the nuts. I'm glad I'm a stubborn prick, the car is awesome. So jelly for rs owners though!
