I have purchased an LED footwell kit, with wiring and the OEM lamps to add to the car. After getting out of my other car into my RS it is a lot like venturing into the DPRK from Seoul.

Anyway, the lamps clip in fine, the question is, where to run the wires. Has anyone added footwell lamps to their Octavia before? Coding is not a drama for me nor is wiring ordinarily, but I was curious if someone has added the lights and how. There are 4 lamps in total.

I ran the backs down the seat loom then along the sills after removing the sill trims. The drivers side i ran through a gap over the tunnel after removing the extension trims under the main tunnel trim. Justtuck it all upout of the way.

Theres a great how to on the briskoda forums. I have the footwell lighting kit and some green LED's to replace the footwell lights but have just never gotten around to it

Airbag Recall

Hi,

According to Airbag Safety Recall it's only MY2013 Octavia III affected but the number of vehicles is 8534, which is more than total Skoda AU sales in any year. Hopefully soon Skoda AU will put the VIN checking tool up so we can know for sure.

Front wheel bearing dead at 45k?

Hi,

My Octavia is in for service today and they found one front wheel bearing needs replacing at only 45k, this seems pretty unusual to me. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Seems fairly common, I replaced mine quite early but it may had something to do with some rock on the road. Having said that, I shredded a tyre on the way to Sydney thanks to a rather large pothole with a different car, no damage to the wheel bearing of that particular car (still going strong 9 years later, I've since sold that car). Perhaps a lower quality bearing was used to save cost on our car.

I'd be expecting that covered under warranty, there is a bit of that going on with these.

Yes it was covered under warranty and they let me have a loan car for the extra day so all good.

So I got a trade in valuation recently, my Octavia not quite 2yo with 45k km on it, paid 41.5k, was supposed to be normal price at least $46k and the offers were $12-14k. 70% loss in 2 years... Not happy at all. Skoda's are well built and designed but if the Australian motor industry don't see their value it makes ownership a much more expensive proposition.

Ask them what a Golf in your spec is worth and see if the percentages line up...

I thought this may happen. The Golf Gti is going to be the 180kW with LSD performance spec only as well. I guess they had to now you can get a Hyundai i30 with over 200kW and a LSD. Keeping up with the 'Kims' ?
