  • Spare key

Does anyone have experience getting a spare key for a 2013 Octavia? I still have the original, I just think it would be prudent to have a spare.

Shouldn't you be getting two sets of keys when you purchase the car?

Yeah there should be a pair of them. Unless you bought privately and they lost them. Dealers always seem surprised when I have traded in a car and still have both keys....

Is it a Mk.II or Mk.III. I had a blade cut without the transponder for my Mk.II to hang round my neck when surfing. Cant do this with the Mk.III , you have to pull the door handle to pieces just to open it with a blade. Any decent locksmith will have the transponder and blade and will be able to program it off the exsisting key, at about 1/2 the price of genuine.

MkII. So the car would operate OK with just the blade? I'd just lose remote central locking...

No you need the transponder keyed to the ignition to start the car, a blade will only open the door.

No, it's just to manually unlock the door. It won't start the car, & if you try, things will go badly (so i've been told)...

Hi, were you able to get a spare key sorted for your car? I might be able to help out with this.

I have done these for customers before on a Touareg. Only did a non remote key which worked the doors and started the car, I now have some aftermarket ones to try out as it isn't possible to get a blank key from the dealer for these as KESSY keys are precoded to the car. As you are in Brisbane there isn't much I can do for you though..

Check eBay, get the right key, get it cut by locksmith and if they can't make the chip working with your car, come to me I can.

My key broke recently, cause the idiot mechanic reefed on the key to start the car when either it wasn't pushed in all the way or the steering wheel was locked.
Anyways, the blade broke off. Car still started if the transponder was touching the blade as it was turned. Didn't need to be touching after that. Currently have the blade stuck in the ignition and the transponder in my pocket.
They'll be bloody well fixing it as well as some other things too...

I keep the key for these in stock. They aren't genuine keys so don't have the logo on them but most people don't care about that. Also have heaps of the transponder chips too.

If they don't replace it ( Even though they should) I can get replacement key blades and key shells for a lot of these keys. If you go to the dealer they will try sell you a complete new key when it's not needed.

                              Hi guys,
Any recommendations for a good locksmith in South Eastern Melbourne that can replace an Octavia key? Still have one but no idea where the other one is. I have an MY11 Wagon.
                              Cheers,
                              Toby
