  • looking for unused or unloved stock catback

    ello ello peeps.
was wondering if anyone happens to have their stock catback system, after getting an aftermarket install, lying around in their garage??
if so, any chance I could have it?
looking for one that came off a tsi vrs.
    ....or a jetta 147 mk5 tsi.

i'm planning on removing my apr catback and selling it. will b keeping the downpipe.
as much as I love the sound, its gonna b regretful.

the missus, now that she's sitting in the back seat after baby #2 was born, dislikes the deep rumble while accelerating.
its not an issue at low or high speeds - just while happy/spirited acceleration.
this unfortunately means I need to drive like a very old old graney.

pls let me know, or if u know some who has.
preferably someone in the act. nsw is good to. just means I gotta drive up to get it.

once I have the stock catback in, i'll b selling the apr catback (CB100026, retails for $1795) for $800.
best case scenario, I swap with someone with a vRS looking to upgrade their exhaust to an apr one at a bargain.

some pics of the apr exhaust....if u r interested.....

I'm in Sydney again towards the end of next month, possibly earlier.
Ideally we both rock up at an exhaust joint and have both swapped at the same time.

The only thing is, the stock exhaust has to be cut to remove it, and I think my exhaust is missing about 200mm from the front end

was urs cut to have an aftermarket downpipe - hence the cut catback exhaust?
it might b fine for me with a shorten exhaust considering i have the apr downpipe.

i now u don't have to cut the stock exhaust to remove it. mine wasn't cut to have it removed. although that was cause i had the full apr exhaust put in.

i know i'll have to get a 3" to 2.5" Reducer - for connecting to the factory catback exhaust.

yes it was shortened as I had a custom length down pipe put in. custom meaning it was measured by eye I have the removed section from my factory exhaust still.

look, im happy to arrange something later next month if you cant get hold of another one

so it turns out the catback section on a pre-fl octavia is different to that found on the fl octavia.
the difference being the resonator box.

the fact that the pre-fl have the tfsi engine and the fl the tsi engine must have something to do with it.
i'd be interested to know if this differs again with diesels.

                    TSI (CCZA) exhaust system....

                    T FSI exhaust system....

incase your interested to know what the stock catback exhaust (downpipe not shown) for a TSI looks like, its the one on the left....

what if you have a pre-FL but with TSI motor?

to me, the cat-backs look like they bolt up the same, also the down pipes are the same length, just the turbo flange is different.
